P2F Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 There's definitely an extra kicking motion there. I can't honestly decide if it looks like he was hell bent on catching a piece on the way by (similar to when guys stick out there leg for a knee on knee hit, except he was airborn), or if it was the common human nature of kicking ones legs in reaction to suddenly have gone airborn. Then is that just the difference between voluntary or involuntary manslaughter? Not my area of expertise by any means Does this classless incident help you come to a more conclusive decision? Misses the hit, was gonna get beat, sticks his leg out recklessly.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Not a good look Lucic, dumbass.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 This is Nylander's team now boys. The guy is incredible. They need to find a way to keep him.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 This is Nylander's team now boys. The guy is incredible. They need to find a way to keep him. They should have locked him up a few years ago. Now he's going to get top $
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 They should have locked him up a few years ago. Now he's going to get top $ They could only start negotiating with him July 1st of this year for an extension.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Nylander is going to get what 8/96 on the open market this summer? New GM for the leafs has done terrible.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Nylader is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better now than he was during his first ~6 years in the league.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Thanks tips... It doesn't normally work like this in hockey. Guys tend to peak earlier than baseball

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 I asked one of the Leafs skating coaches (whom I know) if he's taking full credit for Nylander developing into this beast/top player. He said since he's been there, Nylander hasn't once skated with their specialty coaches and that when he's working with players, he uses Willy as the example of how to skate.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 If he were a centre, I would say yes. But I don't think he'll get $12M AAV as a winger. But what do I know. Panarin who is a winger got 7/11.6 AAV and that was 4 years ago. Plus as a UFA teams won't have to give up anything so should pay his full market value. I think he at least gets 12 on the open market but I could also seem him taking a bit less to stay in Toronto.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Explain, because of Willy, I'm lost? Literally ever move he's done has backfired. Not singing Nylander to an extension Bertuzzi although looking a bit better lately hasn't been good Klingberg is a complete write off, maybe the worst defensive player in the league Domi done nothing Gave Reaves a 3 year contract who is completely unplayable at this point.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) Nylader is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better now than he was during his first ~6 years in the league. Wonder how much of this has to do with this being his contract year? Wonder if he'll start drifting around again once he lands that big contract. If they think he's for real though they'll have the space to sign him back. They have a projected $34M in space for next season. Edited November 21, 2023 by The Cats Ass

Even basic stuff though like his shots on goal - 293 last year, big jump.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 The big question can the Leafs win a Stanley Cup with a core of Matthews, Marner and Nylander? Still hasn't happened and doubt it happens this season.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 The big question can the Leafs win a Stanley Cup with a core of Matthews, Marner and Nylander? Still hasn't happened and doubt it happens this season. Their back end is in shambles. Same boat as the Oilers.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Their back end is in shambles. Same boat as the Oilers. Yeah I love Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Heck even the Leafs in the early 2000s with Sundin never had that type of young core. It would be a shame if the Leafs can't win a Cup with those three guys employed at the same time.

Panarin is a fair comparison. Always forget just how much he makes.
