I think the ones who don't rely on speed have a decent chance to stay good to their mid 30s. Look how weird that curve is.

 

Anyway, I'm open to the idea that hockey fancy stats are imperfect and a player as talented as OEL could be much better with a change of scenery

I would agree but Vancouver also sucks so its not like he's going to a system where he'll improve. As I said theres obviously a chance it could happen, I just don't think its likely.

As a Canucks fan royally pissed about the OEL trade despite Conor Garland being a very solid player, the worst trade of the day is still the Ristolainen deal for Philly. My god what in the hell are NHL GMs smoking today...
