I think they'll have about 10M to spend on a goalie, a couple of wingers, and maybe a D. I'm curious about how much of that they sink into a G.

Zero, they have Campbell and Hutchinson or maybe they pick up some crafty vet, won't be much. Or they bring Freddy back, I wouldn't though.

The Penguins are reportedly exposing Jared McCann in the expansion draft, lmao. This league is in the stone ages.

And the Flames are exploring every possible scenario to keep the 38-year old Mark Giordano, who the Kraken probably won't even pick anyway, lol.

The Ottawa Senators are probably going to protect 4th liner grinder Austin Watson, as well as Zaitsev and Colin White, who have negative value relative to their contracts. They have a stockpile of picks and prospects that they could trade for talent that other teams can't protect, but will likely just sit on it and protect assets with negative value.

The Jets have literally one good d-man and they are considering exposing him in the expansion draft lol.

Wow!

I dunno, if everyone in hockey is dumb then maybe it could be valid to leave some of your better players exposed if they wouldn't get picked.

You can't trade prospects before Pierre McGuire gets a chance to work with them.

Woops

He was a likely 2nd rounder or early 3rd rounder.

Will be curious to see how far he drops.

lol... you know what, I had an extremely hard time cutting McCaan prior to our cutdown in WTPDL. Geeze Louise...

Hyman is good but this is absurd

Edmonton picking up the winger for their first line like TML used him, it'll likely work. It did in Toronto.

McCann is a great pickup for the Leafs at a cheap price.

And of course the Senators don't make a single move. A stockpile of picks and prospects, 20+M in cap space, and they'll protect Zaitsev, White, and f***ing Austin Watson instead of adding actual talented players.

They're waiting until everyone else tires themselves out from all the moves then they'll sweep in for the kill on the clearance rack.

This is incredible content

Zaitsev - negative value

White - negative value

Watson - 4th liner with zero upside

Mete - claimed off waivers in April

Brown - looks like a bust

Protecting these guys while not offering a late pick or something for Tarasenko or van Riemsdyk is hilarious incompetence.

Wait Leafs are protecting Holl over McCann and Dermott?

Lol

Is there a reason why Seattle wouldn't take McCann? He's clearly better than Kerfoot or Dermott, right?

There are side deals going on. It's hard to say until it all shakes out. I've read that some people think the Leafs have a side deal to keep McCann and I've also read that the Leafs traded for McCann to expose him in the draft. I dunno

Yeah it's pretty complicated for a few reasons.

- Side deals

- Seattle must pick one player from each team

- Seattle must draft a salary floor of like $48M

- They have to think about marketing the team so they will probably pick some big names who are not ideal selections

One rumour they are looking at Carey Price, which would be f***ing hilarious

It seems like the smart play would be to select 3 or 4 of those highly paid big names for marketing purposes and to take big bite out of their salary floor. Then you're free to fill out the rest with younger upside plays

Apparently Price will likely miss a good chunk of next season with a hip injury. Built in excuse for Montreal not making the playoffs next season.

Or better yet...Price can stay on LTIR all season and be ready for the playoffs...just in time to join his teammates on the golf course.

I would say so.

Seems like there isnt a side deal in place. The Leafs essentially flipped Hallander and a 7th to ensure they get to keep 2 of McCann, Kerfoot and Dermott.

LOL, not only will the Habs make the playoffs but they will eliminate your weak playoff Leafs... like usual.

Delusional. I love it.

Weber on LTIR and if Price’s contract comes off the books the Habs could be in a position to make some good moves, but I don’t see them as a playoff team right now.
