G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 C- 1B - Teixeira 2B - Cano (90%) 3B - could save 27M SS - Jeter LF -Soriano CF -Gardner RF - Ichiro DH - Wells Yeah they can scrape by with those last 2 guys for another year, *maybe* 2, but replacements will be needed soon. Jeter's days as a SS are probably almost done.

They have Wilin Rosario, though he can get time at 1B (with Helton gone) and in a corner outfield spot as well when he isn't catching.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 The Yankees or Boston are the best fit for Brian McCann and likely would offer him the most years/money. The Yankees are in dire need of a catcher especially after what they rolled out with this season.

Tex is coming back so he'll be a nice addition to the middle of their lineup. Soriano should still provide solid power numbers hitting in that ballpark. Going with Wells as a DH is asking for trouble. He was awesome in April, though after that his bat was just awful - one of the worst bats in baseball. The Yankees shouldn't be giving Wells close to 400 AB's next season. I think the Yankees go hard after Carlos Beltran to play RF and DH. He'd be an excellent fit in that ballpark and DHing him every so often could keep him fresh over the 162 game schedule. McCann and Beltran are the big bats the Yankees sign and they will spend big this offseason after missing the postseason. As for pitching, I see them bringing back Kuroda and going hard after someone like Tanaka or Ubaldo. C - McCann 1B - Tex 2B - Cano 3B - Reynolds/Chavez SS - Jeter LF - Soriano CF - Gardner RF - Ichiro DH - Beltran

And he's has even said he wants to play for Yankees. BTW, it must be nice when most quality free agents WANT to play for you Grrrrr Edited November 6, 2013 by G-Snarls

Makes sense because Roasario is very JPAish with the glove behind the plate if I am not mistaken.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Off topic question: Would you trade Colby Rasmus for Lance Lynn in a salary cap fantasy baseball dynasty league? Yes And I'd do it IRL too
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Off topic question: Would you trade Colby Rasmus for Lance Lynn in a salary cap fantasy baseball dynasty league? Impossible to answer without knowing the salary and contract structure of your league and the contracts of the individual players but assuming the cost is close, it's a deal worth doing. The value of the two players is much closer IRL than it is in fantasy especially if you don't have a CF spot (and even that only gives a slight boost in value to Rasmus).
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Yes And I'd do it IRL too IRL the Jays can probably get by with an all glove CF like Gose.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 IRL the Jays can probably get by with an all glove CF like Gose. Yes, especially if the pitching gets better Though it does put a lot of pressure on Bautista and Cabrera to produce

Yeah Colby is arb eligible and becomes a FA soon and Lynn is still pre-arb and I think under control until 2016/2017 so I'll likely do it. I could always sign another OF during free agency. Adam Wainwright said he thinks Lynn can be one of the best pitchers in baseball and I agree. In real life, I'd love to see the Blue Jays get him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Again though, IRL, the Cardinals don't want Colby back, even if Beltran walks Maybe they need a catcher - oh, wait Maybe they need BP help - oh, wait Maybe they need... That's the problem. All they really need is a shortstop and we can't trade ours right now. I bet they'd want Lawrie but we need him too.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Lots of Phillies tidbits, bold emphasis is mine Phillies Notes: Ruiz, Free Agents, Front Office By Zach Links [November 6 at 12:47pm CST] Earlier today, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported that the Phillies have kicked around the idea of making an offer for David Price, but it's unlikely to happen because GM Ruben Amaro Jr. knows he has multiple needs to address and one big splash won't fix the team. Here's more on the Phils... The Red Sox, according to sources, are quietly doing their due diligence on Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz, writes Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. While there are other free agent catchers available, Ruiz is the guy that the Phillies want and the guy that the pitchers want. The Phillies need to prioritize right-handed hitting and both Brian McCann and A.J. Pierzynski are left-handed hitters. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is a switch-hitter, but he struggles from the right side. The Rockies are also known to be pursuing Ruiz and are reportedly planning to offer him a multiyear deal this week. GM Ruben Amaro says that he has already made offers on "several" free agent players, writes Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. While Amaro declined to name names, Zolecki suggests that Nelson Cruz, Carlos Beltran, and Mike Morse could be among their targets. The Phillies hired Scott Freedman from Major League Baseball's Labor Relations Department to help the club incorporate analytics into their personnel decisions, Zolecki writes. "I don't know if it's going to change the way we do business, necessarily," Amaro said. "We still plan to be a scouting and player development organization, but I think it's important to get all the information and analyze not just what we're doing, but how other clubs are evaluating players."
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Five Teams Showing Early Interest In Grant Balfour By Steve Adams [November 6 at 2:16pm CST] Grant Balfour is expected to sign with a new team as a free agent this offseason after three excellent years with the A's -- two of which came as the team's closer. According to the latest from Susan Slusser at the San Francisco Chronicle, the Yankees, Tigers, Rockies, Rays and Angels have all expressed interest in the hard-throwing Aussie. Balfour, 36 in December, saved 62 games for the A's over the past two seasons as their primary ninth-inning option and has a sparkling 2.47 ERA with 9.2 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 in 254 2/3 innings dating back to 2010. It's a buyer's market for closers this offseason, with Balfour, Joe Nathan, Fernando Rodney, Joaquin Benoit, Chris Perez, Jose Veras, Edward Mujica and Kevin Gregg among the free agents who saved at least 20 games this past season. Brian Wilson, who returned as a dominant setup man, figures to garner interest for ninth inning jobs as well. Interest between the Tigers and Balfour will turn a few heads due to the fact that Balfour's signature shouting on the mound didn't sit well with Victor Martinez in the ALDS, leading to a benches-clearing confrontation. Still the Tigers figure to add at least one high-profile arm this winter after opening last season with no set closer and experiencing ugly results from a carousel of relievers until Benoit solidified the job.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Be hilarious if the Tigers got Balfour They could actually really use him, but...
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Reyes + Bautista for Miller + Tavares + Garcia + Wong + s*** Honestly no thanks. I would try to move Reyes to the Cards for pitching + Tavares and Bautista to Tex for a Profar package. Without a SS coming back TOR's way there is no way I move Reyes, there simply isn't enough MIF depth in the org to field a MLB team without him.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Reyes + Bautista for Miller + Tavares + Garcia + Wong + s*** I would do this trade in a heartbeat and never look back. We get rid of 30 million in salary, and get some great young players. Only problem would be that we have no SS, but its still worth doing the trade.
