Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 White Sox Ready To Sell; Won't Trade Sale Or Konerko Don't blame them on Sale, but nobody would take Konerko, or at least won't give them anything of any value for that.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Don't blame them on Sale, but nobody would take Konerko, or at least won't give them anything of any value for that. They won't trade Konerko because it's not their decision. He has 10 & 5 rights, he's probably told them he will veto any trade.

Yeah, that's probably also true, though trading a guy that's a fixture on your team for an R- prospect (all you'd get) would look really gross.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Yankees lose, and Hughes (who is on my inherited fantasy team) had a pretty good outing. That's about the best combination of things that could happen!

It easy to forget about the things that actually matter; health, family and friends. I hope he can make a full recovery.

That is scary good. As for Jays players, Bautista leads the team with 2.3 WAR.

digiblader Verified Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Machado's on a record pace for doubles.. still, they need pitching badly in Baltimore if they're gonna stay in contention. July's schedule features teams likely to be in contention, including: Yankees(twice, starting tonight) White Sox Rangers Blue Jays(we swept them last time) Rangers again Royals Red Sox August isn't any easier either, and don't ask about September. Baltimore's lack of pitching depth is going to get exposed when they face elite teams. As a result, the Jays still have a decent chance at catching that 2nd wild card spot(and maybe 1st, depending on what happens with Texas/Oakland--nobody else outside of maybe Cleveland has a shot of contending in the Central, the Yankees can't hit(offsetting their strong pitching), and who knows what the Rays will do. Remember, the Jays sked begins to soften after the Detroit series.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 FYI, Chris Davis is even better with a 4.3 WAR. O's need Wei Yen Chen back soon--but what will he bring after his injury? Here's how bad the Yankees are--their WAR leader is Brett Gardner(2.6), not Robinson Cano(2.1). Everyone else has been basically replacement level at best. And Red Sox players have been really good--Pedroia, Ellsbury, Ortiz and Victorino all have WARs of 2 or more. Rays--Evan Longoria leads with a 4.3 WAR--but why are the Rays so inconsistent?
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 According to ESPN's Beane Count--we're a better team than the O's, although not by much. Baltimore's grade is hurt by bad pitching(too many HRs) and inability to take walks at a consistent pace. We're also near equal with the Red Sox, since the Red Sox walk too many batters(see Doubront, Webster, Dempster, and their bullpen). Detroit is considered the best team--but it's still a mystery--why aren't they running away with the AL Central? http://espn.go.com/mlb/beanecount
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Trevor Bauer last just 2/3rd of an inning vs. the hapless White Sox--5-0, with the bases loaded. It's going to be a long day for Cleveland vs. the White Sox. Good news for the Jays and Tigers, BTW(we're both within distance)
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Longoria left the Rays game in the 2nd with an injury--oh boy. This is the one thing the Rays can't afford.

8D Verified Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Colon perfect through three innings with four strikeouts. I hope more players get the surgery he did. Serve your eventual suspension, but the surgery will give you multiple seasons of good health and re-found youth. Props to the O's for picking him up again on the cheap. Looks like Beane has finally caught up with the times again
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 3 innings now qualifies for perfect game alert?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Sorry, I got a man-crush on Colon Is Wilko's avatar just that attractive?
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Brad Miller with the high socks and no batting gloves look, that's definitely a keeper.
8D Verified Member Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Is Wilko's avatar just that attractive? That, but also because sometimes this guy looks like he has incredible trouble breathing on the mound; and you thought Melky running to the wall last night going for that ball was bad? Colon is like x10 worse than that fielding the ball. But with all of that said, he's somehow managed to pitch his ass off at 40 years old putting up really solid numbers. In the past two seasons, Colon has pitched to a 4.4WAR; FIP (3.82;3.33); xFIP (4.17;3.90). ('12 season; '13 season). Romero = 0.1WAR; Morrow = 2.3WAR; Buehrle = 2.6WAR; Johnson = 4.1WAR; Dickey = 5.2WAR. Keeping in mind Colon missed 50 games during this time due to a suspension. And he's getting paid $3MM this year! even more incredible seems like he's doing while only having two pitches! i swear from what i've seen, he's only used two pitches. only a 91-92MPH FB but it seems to dart outside to RHB. And another pitch that just sinks. amaizng just has really good command of it all.
