  1. Not sure who the FO would want to hold on the 26-man over Clement so badly that they would consider trading him. I'll tell you one thing, it definitely should not be Shittiago Espitrash.
  2. Yeah Jays should, and will probably be in on this
  3. Bolded ain't me buckeroo. I like Schneider more because of his projections than because of what he did last season. I've also been a fan of his (like many others on here who follow our prospects too) since before he even got called up for the first time. Steamer600 ranks him 5th among Jays position players in projected fWAR with 2.7 (behind only Kirk, Bichette, Vlad and Varsho), with a projected wRC+ of 112 as well.
  4. Your critique is going to get an F from me as well Sherminator. If it were up to me, Schneider would obviously make the team. And Votto fully said he's starting the season in Buffalo so not sure how Votto even factored into my grade when I posted a mock start-of-season roster.
  5. Maybe the Espinal for Austin Slater trade base that's been rumoured all offseason still ends up happening, but the Jays and/or Giants are waiting until the end of ST to pull the trigger just in case injuries open up a need to keep the player around. Getting Slater for Espinal would solve the Vogelbach/Clement/Espinal/Schneider bench crunch because Espinal being gone would free the Jays of having to give him pseudo-vet treatment because he's a 7 figure salary arb player, and then Schneider can start the season in Buffalo (not that I think he deserves to, just seems to be heading that way) while Slater is the lefty mashing 4th OF. C Jansen/Kirk 1B Vlad 2B Biggio/Clement 3B IKF/Clement/Turner (1-2 days a week per the team) SS Bichette LF Varsho/Slater CF Kiermaier/Varsho RF Springer DH Turner/Vogelbach
  6. I guess he doesn't expect to make the team out of spring?
  7. Agreed that this is the proper roster construction. My guess is the org views Espinal like a pseudo-vet even though he has options, as an arb player making 7 figures. Under Shatkins FO Jays have rarely optioned fringe guys like Espinal if they are arb players making a 7 figure salary. I guess since Pearson's arb salary is only 60k higher than league minimum it doesn't count?
  8. RosterResource was already projecting him to start the season on the IL since before today.
  9. Based on this, seems like the April batting order vs RHP is RF Springer SS Bichette 1B Vlad DH Turner 2B Biggio C Jansen/Kirk LF Varsho 3B IKF CF Kiermaier Also again seems like Espinal is somehow still in the plans as a key backup at multiple infield positions in the orgs view, but the Vogelbach not making it idea with plenty of other DH options on the team was probably a good call, with Schneider making the team in his place. 3 non-C bench players to start are Espinal, Clement and Schneider. Vogelbach not making it would also leave an extra 2M of wiggle room for the FO to better use elsewhere on in season additions.
  10. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/stress-testing-the-blue-jays-depth-at-all-nine-defensive-positions/
  11. I agree, I wouldn't mind Vogelbach not making up the team to free up potential opportunity elsewhere.
  12. Hilarious considering you're the same braindead meathead who tried to act like you called the IKF/KK signings on this board, meanwhile you just regurgitated what Hurl told you from his source.
  13. I was simply aiming to steer discussion away from unlikely scenarios of 2% likelihood or less (like Duvall/Grichuk adds). I brought up the post from months ago to clarify to the poster I was responding to that while I was now suggesting Schneider might start in AAA, it's not because he isn't a possibility in LF.
  14. No I meant "bring up" as in bring the idea to the attention of this board, not as in I created the idea lol. Had to point it out at the time because most here thought a Duvall/Grichuk add was needed. If I had meant what you thought I meant, I would have said "come up with the idea", not "bring up the idea."
  15. I agree with the bolded. Keep in mind I was one of the first posters on this board (if not the first) to bring up the Davis Schneider covering some LF idea back in the beginning of January when everyone else here still thought the Jays needed to add a Duvall/Grichuk type lefty mashing 4th OF. https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/11179-General-Blue-Jays-Discussion-Thread-(2024)?p=1768751&viewfull=1#post1768751 That being said, the company line is the company line. No one is going to like this, but we could actually see IKF in the outfield in some early season games against LH starters, and both Clement+Espitrash make the team at the (likely temporary) expense of Davis Schneider. April lineup vs LHP C Jansen/Kirk 1B Vlad 2B Clement 3B Espinal/Turner (if it falls on one of his 1-2 days a week) SS Bichette LF IKF CF Varsho RF Springer DH Turner/Non-catching C that day
  16. BNS in his latest article basically implied that some f***ing how, Espishit's spot on the team is safe. He said Clement is in competition with "the likes of the likes of Daniel Vogelbach, Spencer Horwitz, Eduardo Escobar and Davis Schneider." Basically what this implies is that the 11 position players who have locked spots on the 26 man are Springer, Bo, Vlad, Turner, Jansen, Kirk, Varsho, KK, IKF, Biggio and Espinal. And the final 2 position player spots are a competition where 2/3 of Clement/Vogelbach/Horwitz/Escobar/Schneider win. My guess based on the new company line that is being trotted out, is Vogelbach makes the team over Horwitz, and Clement wins over Escobar+Schneider because he's out of options. But don't worry Schneider is probably first call up from AAA lol smh. I seriously don't understand how Espinal gets this level of underserved pseudo-vet treatment by the org. The guy is optionable and deserves to be in Buffalo.
  17. I am definitely in agreement with you on the bolded Sherm To be clear I am not denying the existence of LF/RF types, I'm just saying the Jays haven't been doing it with a lot of their guys that can play in the OF. There's more examples I could use in the organization other than Biggio and Whit, I just didn't want to make my earlier post longer than it already was.
  18. Starting to think Hurl might actually be KingSarcasm, or his source, or they have the same source
  19. Biggio had more time at SS last season than LF, just stop Sherm lmao Also regarding Whit, he was viewed by the team as only having LF utility despite playing a lot of RF previously. There were some lineups while Whit was here where it looked like they were outright avoiding using him in RF. During his entire time as a Blue Jay, Whit only had 30 total PAs there despite that being his 2nd most common field position as a Royal. During his entire time in KC Whit only started 24 games in LF, and as a Blue Jay started 69 games in LF. Basically what I'm getting at is, Jays seem to be keeping RF guys away from LF and LF guys away from RF.
  20. On the contrary, I can actually assure YOU that if Biggio was still viewed as having double corner OF utility in the eyes of the organization, he should have taken some PAs away from Whit there, considering Whit only had 1 month above 100 wRC+ after April (88 wRC+ total from May to the end of the season), while Biggio rocked a 117 wRC+ during that same timespan. Biggio also had 0.4 more fWAR than Whit during this timespan in 218 less PAs
