  1. I think the only part id disagree with is that its a given that jansen/kirk is better than moreno/kirk even as soon as next year. I think there’s a good chance that moreno produces more value next year.
  2. I guess youd have 5/6 m less. Sorry, i thought it was closer.
  3. I think there were jansen reliever trades talked about that made sense to me. Play moreno and kirk in a tandem with Kirk getting more time at DH.
  4. Moreno put up a way better WRC+ at a younger age in double A. He mashed before his injury in a way that Martin has never done, which is why Martin has been stuck at the same level for two years. He also plays a premium up the middle position.
  5. Austin Martin never really raked though.
  6. One more thing on this, the most likely way this falls apart for me is that jansen doesnt stay healthy. Moreno to my knowledge had one freak injury. We could look back at this and think that a jansen trade should have been the way to go. Also, cheap Moreno would have been very helpful as we try to build around vlad and Bo.
  7. I think Moreno was pretty obviously an overpay. He has all the tools to have a good bit higher ceiling than Varsho, mostly because of the hit tool. I also think that not doing the Teo trade, not signing KK and spending that money elsewhere MIGHT have made us a better team this year. However, all the choices were pretty logical and intentional.. which is all you can ask for.
  8. Social media didnt suspend him for all those games.
  9. He was lynched by the arb committee.
  10. Again, this comes down to the jays believing that a super long suspension was basically without merit. It’s a stretch to believe that that suspension had nothing to do with what he actually did and was about perception instead.
  11. Yea, i think this is right. Up the middle, defense is valued higher.
  12. I think the priority was to move springer to a corner, get rid of Teo before he became expensive, and then find guys who could play CF. I disagree that gurriel is a throw in as people said above. He does have value but not enough to object to adding him to a trade.
  13. Brantley got 3m more than KK with similar value last year. I’d agree though that it doesnt as much apply to catchers.
  14. Strict WAR=value doesnt seem to line up to what guys get in FA. It’s subjective but i think good hitters are valued higher than guys who obtain more of their value from D.
  15. Gurriel is a well above average hitter. He has value.
  16. I can see it and im not an insider. Have you tried clicking through? If you can’t ill paste it in.
  17. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/34978963/2022-23-mlb-offseason-grades-free-agency-trade-analysis Espn gives us a C and Arizona an A for this deal. I kind of agree that this was a clear overpay but also acceptable as what we are getting is scarce.
  18. I’m not sure on that. To the previous post, its a lot of money. If the jays think he got screwed and is innocent, then yea lets sign him. I just dont think thats likely given that suspension.
  19. With the way the panel is chosen, that seems unlikely.
  20. Seeing as it cost Bauer a s*** ton of money, i doubt he thinks it makes sense if he thinks he’s innocent.
  21. MLB has a process and there is no real reason for them to go easy on guys like Osuna.
  22. The length of that suspension makes this a clear and absolute stay away for me. That’s well more than TWICE than Osuna got, and Osuna beat a woman up in public. That’s a massive suspension and the full story of why he got that suspension is probably gross and disturbing. If we couldn’t keep Osuna, why would we acquire Bauer?
  23. In that case, i’d agree that a catcher for triple A would make sense that is somewhat of an upgrade. That’s tricky of course.
  24. Didn't we get a catcher off the dodgers in the minor league rule 5, he could be the primary back up right now.
  25. This is a good point. Teams make decisions on splits way before a full sample. I guess minor league stats? Or do they study the swing?
