    This is clearly a development year to see where our youngsters stand going forward. If we were trying to win this year, Semien would have started the season at SS.

    Please tell me the return is good. I was still a believer in Tellez and would have given up only after next season since we still had an option left.

    There was a time and place for his style. It just wouldn't work today where people need to be entertained for every second.

    Baseball as a sport has too much break in actual action. What the hell else are they going to talk about? Lol

    Thing is that for all the reason why we'd want to keep Gurriel are more reasons why other teams will want him for the eventual top end starter we need. Now the chemistry part is very underrated since it seems like Gurriel has a great connection with Teo/Vlad/Springer. Seems like our front office knows exactly what they are doing so it does feel nice that we can sit back and trust what they eventually do.

    Ya thats true, we were planning on platooning Tellez/Grichuk this season. Replace Tellez with Dickerson and maybe we even see some Gurriel at 1B when Vlad needs a day off.

    Grichuk/Gurriel are too good to be sitting that many games since majority are RHP. I don't think we would keep 5 OFers on the roster with Biggio being able to play out there too.

    Agree with this but Dickerson becomes the 5th OFer. If he's healthy, I can see this setting up a Gurriel + others trade for that top end starter we're all looking for.

    Ya this seems like a lesser version of the Lirano trade where's its a win win for us just because we were willing to flex some financial muscle. Great move. Now just repeat this a few times and this will be 2015 all over again but with a young core and a great farm system still.

    Loll... makes sense to read into it when Shatkins said get ready for some moves. It does make sense to add Dickerson's left handed bat as our 4th outfielder and then trade from a position of strength (Gurriel/Grichuk) for a good pitcher. It's happening... book it!

    We need another outfielder? Is this a salary dump for the Marlins of Dickerson in order to get the reliever? Does this mean Dickerson will become our 4th OFer because we are trading Gurriel or Grichuk for a starting pitcher?

    They did leave Cleveland the same year the team took the next big step in 2016 for the record lol. Now they put us in a great spot and let's hope they can put us over the hump by making the final few required additions.

    Agreed but we still need at least 1 more top end pitcher that we'd be confident putting out there in the playoffs. Then we need to work the same magic for the bullpen and our team is complete.

    I like that we're using Springer at DH instead of a full day off but don't like that Gurriel isn't playing for the sake of Panik.
