I agree with you, I was pushing for us to spend more this offseason to patch up the obvious holes. But I can also see the method to the madness of seeing where all our young guys fit on our team long term. We have tons of salary space and there was a reason why our management didn't use majority of it in one offseason. Semien can easily be brought back or we can go after one of the many other SS's on the market, which was always part of their plan I think.
I've compared this team to the 2015 team where we had an amazing run differential but were stuck around .500 because of our pitching and defense. The same drawbacks hold true for this team but the main difference is that our core is just beginning their MLB careers whereas the 2015 team was on their way down. There is no reason for us to make any moves that hurt us long term. I will trust the front office as they've got us to this point thus far.
