  1. This is gonna be a super fun 2nd half of the season. Let's just stay healthy!
  2. I've always wanted Semien at the 5 spot since the beginning of the season once we had a healthy roster. Just think it makes the most sense but it's not a major issue.
  3. So when does Semien get moved to the 5 spot? Seems like that's where he belongs.
  4. I'm sure our package of Martin, Woods-Richardson and toss in Biggio for Marquez and Story would have happened if the Rockies weren't so stupid. Both sides would have been better off.
  5. Injuries happen to every team. The fact we were relying on Yates who reportedly failed a physical before signing and Merryweather who is made out of glass is just poor planning if they were planning to go all out this season. Shatkins have been here for 6 years now so it just speaks to the lack of meaningful pitching depth they've built up.
  6. Exactly what I've been saying. They half assed the bullpen in the offseason while letting them lose a lot of games for us but now we want to push everything in for the 2nd half? It's why I wanted to wait until the offseason to make our real push. Not a fan of this wish washy approach but at least the product will be better on the field for the time being.
  7. Well.. whether you liked the moves or not, the Jays got better from the trade deadline but so did almost every team ahead of us in the standings. The stretch run will be fun!
  8. Pearson will be our 2015 Sanchez.
  9. What did we give in return? Is it an upgrade for us?
  10. I meant handicapped by being 9.5 games back from the Division race and 4.5 games back from the Wild Card race with multiple teams in front of us who all got better too.
  11. Ya when those guys have built a level of trust, you do have to side with them. Ultimately after my initial freak outs, that's exactly where I landed with Barnes and will be there with Berrios. Now let's see how Barnes looks in Summer League and how Berrios looks for rest of the season.
  12. We were able to get Ryu, Springer and Semien in back to back offseasons. As long as we're willing to spend, they will come and you also save prospect capital to truly go after missing pieces. I just hate that we're handicapped so far out from the Division race and are chasing 1 wild card spot with the Yankees right there too. This trade made sense for someone under more control or at least someone that comes with an extension.
  13. Won't even argue that. Freaking out on a message board allows me to be sane in person. Should have seen me after we drafted Barnes over Suggs yesterday lol.
  14. I would have 100% traded Semien and Ray and then gone all in the offseason. Then we could have used those assets to fill in the pieces we couldn't get from free agency. We also wouldn't have been handicapped 10 games in the Division and chasing only 1 wild card spot with the Yankees right there too.
  15. Exactly. See, we can agree on things lol.
  16. I just loved Martin man. Seeing his name in the trade broke me lol.
  17. I just expected big things from Martin man. I was so stoked about the draft pick just for him to get traded a few months into his MiLB career. We are not in a must win season as this is supposed to be just the beginning of our winning curve. We are in a different position than most other teams. Instead we made a trade for a guy who can leave in 1.5 years and this could border on being a disasterous trade if there's a CBA lockout next year.
  18. The cost would have been Martin and Simeon Woods Richardson lol.
  19. Sure, might as well give them Kirk, Groshans, Martinez and Pearson. Then I'd love to see people here rationalize the trade.
  20. That's a very Homer way of looking at things tbh. SWR was the key piece to get a good young arm in Stroman and Martin still only dropped a couple of draft spots to 5th. We clearly were so excited to get him and if what you think is true, we shouldn't have drafted him 5th in the first place.
  21. Did the Dodgers pay the same or less to get Trea Turner and Scherzer? The Padres added a bunch of arms to their rotation without ever giving up 2 top prospects. With no extension, this trade is a joke.
  22. By affording him, I mean wanting to pay the big bucks that it will take to keep him. Trading for him just to give him a massive extension while giving up 2 top prospects seems dumb. If we don't get him under a reasonable deal past 2022, this trade will be a massive failure.
  23. I just wanted more control of Berrios so I could stomach this easier. Do you think we're even going to be able to afford him after next year? That's the part that pisses me off thinking we are going to be left with nothing or have an expensive pitcher on our books.
  24. I'm still trying to come with grips on the Barnes pick and then we get rid of 2 of our best prospects for a guy who could leave after next year. Looks like Shatkins got pinned into a corner with no other moves available after talking a big game and got bent over.
