  1. If we get him this offseason is a complete success.
  2. And an offer is objectively the most important step to signing a player.
  3. If need be I would sign Walker to a 2-year, but I honestly think Manoah or SWR could be as good as Walker this season. Thornton is my bet to have a decent season if he has a chance to start...ZIPS seem him worth 1.7 WAR in 2021. I would say 2+
  4. I was reading on https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ how Gardner and the Yankees have had no talks re: 2021. If we end up trading Grichuk or Hernandez as part of a package for starting pitcher, what if we signed Gardner to a 1-year? He bats left, is typically a Jays killer, forecasted for > 1.2 WAR, would want to make the Yankees pay, etc and he is still a stolen base threat. I would like him as the 4th OF more than Fisher, although Gardner is probably limited to LF and CF in a pinch. Just throwing it out there.
  5. Or Walker. If we sign even just one of those starters and Rosenthal we have had an amazing off season. We can always trade for someone impact during the season. But in the back of my mind I am thinking we should still plunder the Rockies while they are making dumb decisions. Gray and Marquez for Grichuk? #justkidding
  6. Stupid hypothetical... If the Jays started the season with SWR, Manoah, Groshans and Martin in the lineup, what is their WAR at the end of the season for 2021? My guesses: SWR 1.5, Manoah 0.8, Groshans 0.3, Martin 1.2
  7. Oh I totally agree. To walk away from ~ $46M? I sure as hell wouldn't. He is probably hoping for COVID-shortened seasons so that the embarrassment of him looking sad on the bench is quicker. I find the whole thing so fascinating. If I'm Davis I manufacture an injury. He's got to have some aches and pains he can focus on. And stay away from the PEDs. His playing days are virtually over. I hope he doesn't restart PEDs hoping to make a come back at 34.
  8. What do you think the Orioles do with Chris Davis? He has two years left. Do they keep running him out every few days hoping he will at some point provide positive WAR? Seeing him play now he looks like a guy that has totally given up. He doesn't even hit the Jays well, anymore. And that has been money his whole career. In other bad 1B signed to bad contracts, Pujols only has one more year left
  9. Holy crap, this site is amazing! Thanks for the discussion on this...I had no idea this site existed. For me it was only fangraphs. Are there any other sites out there fans show know about?
  10. Right? I think you may see all of these guys signed within 48 hours of Bauer being signed.
  11. He is my sleeper pick difference maker for 2021. I think he is awesome, and I think his injuries are well behind him. Could be wrong of course, but fingers crossed.
  12. 1 year at $40M. Or 5 years @ $150M. $50M, $40M, $20M, $20M, $20M. (AAV $30M for salary cap provisions). Throw in a $10M signing bonus, AAV $32M.
  13. Holy s***, 13? I will bet there are some systems that don't even have 2.
  14. I really like all of those arms, and think all could be viable SPs this year, even SWR. Even if the Jays sign no one else before ST, like you said they could see what they have in ST (maybe 1-2 of them look awesome) and if things don't pan out, make a trade. I'd hate to lose a win-now year by risking a spot in the rotation on one of the kids, but they could be really something.
  15. I think the FO values Davis more than Fisher. My money is on Fisher, unless there are some moves made. Hey, think Groshans will be ready by May, 2022? Damn, that'd be nice.
  16. Because your posts are generally more idiotic. And you were the most pandering. Mate. And you keep bringing it up. Stop fixating, and go back to giving non-insightful basic answers to questions that are more complicated than you think they are, but for anyone else but me.
  17. Because I do not know who's arm is stronger, Cavan's or Didi's. I suspect it may be Didi's, but I was looking for metrics, FFS. Not the "shortstops typically have strong arms" trope. Don't get so angry when people react to patronizing comments. Toughen up or stop making pandering comments that will elicit reactions that trigger you.
  18. It is kind of amazing. I am not sure I remember a FO/team that has done that; kept an amazing farm intact but built a really exciting winner via savvy trades and FA signings. IIRC, the Yankees at one time had both...early 90s?
  19. Hasn't MLB decided on the DH thing already? I thought they said no for the DH in 2021. It'd be weird if this decision wasn't firmed up yet. ST is like 4 weeks away.
  20. I would actually like to see the Jays off Bauer a 1-year, $40M contract. I think he might bite. Highest AAV in MLB history. Then sign a 2nd tier arm like Walker for ~ $10M.
  21. I would say that is more realistic. I would actually ay > $15M for Paxton. An overpay? Maybe.
  22. Oh shoot, if this has already been discussed I will need to delete my OP.
  23. I know, man. Trust me. I was just throwing that hypothetical out there for opinions.
  24. Twitter, Scott Mitchell...
  25. It has been reported that the Jays are trying to work out a trade for Hendricks and Bryant from the Cubs. If this happens, are folks happy? Hendricks would be a solid #2 SP IMO.
