    So what is with Pompey, too many concussions? What was Lawrie's issue, besides being a little dumb. He had arm and back issues, IIRC. Man, when Lawrie first came up for us he was unbelievable.

    I was just looking to see what Dalton Pompey was up to. I was surprised to find out he is sort of out of baseball. Hasn't played since 2020. And he wasn't signed by anyone for 2021. He's 28. Huh. I thought he had a shot somewhere. In other former Canuck baseball player news, Brett Lawrie has been out of professional baseball for 5 years now. I really liked both players back in the day. Kind of depressing.

    I've never been too much of a Davis fan, but to his credit he keeps producing. And has plus defense. Last year I wouldn't have cared if he was DFAed. Now I can see him as a long term piece on this roster.

    Marquez has such a good team-friendly contract. He is honestly the perfect fit. It would burn up a lot of our prospect capital, but four years of a really good SP. He, plus Ryu and Pearson and our offense give us a shot at greatness. I think I pull that trigger. It could be a ~ 3 + win differential.

    Jesus I would do that EVERY time, and I really like Kay. But c'mon, that is too light. I wish, but they would want way more than that. German is a guy who is worth > 3 WAR a season. Four more seasons. He might even have a no-trade clause. The Jays will HAVE to throw in SWR or Manoah. I love both prospects, but they are prospects. I guess what I am saying is this; he has a 4-year window that runs perfectly with our kids. We may have to burn some of our future for the now. I know we all sting from the Dickey trade, but that is just a risk teams have to make sometimes. The best trades are those that leave both teams hurting a little.

    What sort of monster deal would it take to trade for German Marquez? He would absolutely be a perfect trade target. The Rockies are horrible and rebuilding, or need to, and Marquez could be ours until 2025. He pitches way better away from Colorado, which also bodes well. Assuming Pearson is damn near untouchable, would it be SWR, Manoah, and Groshans? Is that even enough?

    If need be I would sign Walker to a 2-year, but I honestly think Manoah or SWR could be as good as Walker this season. Thornton is my bet to have a decent season if he has a chance to start...ZIPS seem him worth 1.7 WAR in 2021. I would say 2+

    I was reading on https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ how Gardner and the Yankees have had no talks re: 2021. If we end up trading Grichuk or Hernandez as part of a package for starting pitcher, what if we signed Gardner to a 1-year? He bats left, is typically a Jays killer, forecasted for > 1.2 WAR, would want to make the Yankees pay, etc and he is still a stolen base threat. I would like him as the 4th OF more than Fisher, although Gardner is probably limited to LF and CF in a pinch. Just throwing it out there.

    Or Walker. If we sign even just one of those starters and Rosenthal we have had an amazing off season. We can always trade for someone impact during the season. But in the back of my mind I am thinking we should still plunder the Rockies while they are making dumb decisions. Gray and Marquez for Grichuk? #justkidding

    Stupid hypothetical... If the Jays started the season with SWR, Manoah, Groshans and Martin in the lineup, what is their WAR at the end of the season for 2021? My guesses: SWR 1.5, Manoah 0.8, Groshans 0.3, Martin 1.2
