  1. I guess the guys who are questionable to sign outside the first ten rounds are Nate LaRue, Diodatti, Masson, and then Conor Philips? From where Philips was drafted I'm guessing he's a long shot. Any word on the other guys? Any other hard to sign guys there.
  2. I know Jansen has been terrible but over the last few weeks, I've thought his at bats look better even if there aren't results. I say give him plenty of rope until someone is ready to come up. Everyone had good at bats tonight. A number of guys took 0-2 to a full count. Encouraging stuff.
  3. On the Fangraphs podcast, they were saying that some teams’ models love younger players and said that Cleveland especially often sign the youngest dude in the draft. This might be the Cleveland influence here.
  4. Well. I meant more that it’s in the fans interests for the owner to save money because ideally they would spend that extra money on the team. I see your point though.
  5. Minor league players aren’t represented. Also, an observation isn’t a hill to die on. This doesn’t affect me at all. However, like any other person, I can recognize a s***** situation and call it out. I’m surprised that so many people are so concerned about the bottom line of baseball teams. That’s weird but I guess fans and owners interests align and people have to figure out a way to rationalize that.
  6. I understand the f***ing process. I am saying that they could give them more of the chump change (by baseball standards) they are already giving them. I’m not saying that they should be legislated to or they should be made to do so, I’m saying that I am making a value judgement and saying that they are cheap in the same way I think people who don’t tip are cheap. You can take it or leave it.
  7. Ah yea, Microsoft that enjoys special rules that allows them to massively underpay their employees generally. Microsoft where the janitor must be a janitor for Microsoft for at least 7 years and had no choice at all to which company he can go and pursue his career as a janitor. Good analogy pops.
  8. s***, now you explained that to me warren buffet, I understand. Thanks man.
  9. Oh, ok. Yea, they are cheap. I don’t care if they don’t have to, either. If I know someone doesn’t tip, I think they are cheap as well.
  10. I thought you meant anything under 125k period for the entire draft doesn’t count against your pool. That’s only the case for rounds 11-40? Just to clarify. They could sign every guy from round 11-40 for 124k and that would count zero against their pool. Correct?
  11. I assumed originally it was cap/pool manipulation. I was told further up the thread that only amounts above 125k count against the pool. If that is the case, then they would have a lot of leeway to choose what to spend.
  12. Wait, you are the person who first replied to me. What the hell did you mean in your original comment then? I assumed that the reason they paid so low was for pool money purposes but you said only amounts over 125k counted. Obviously, if that is not true I understand why they are so low.
  13. The whole point of the entire structure of MLB contracts and the draft and the coming international draft is to suppress how much money they have to spend on players. MLB front offices know they are saving millions off the true cost of players (the red sox spent 65m on moncada for gods sake and now the most international guys get is like 5m). So, yes they are cheap f***s. It would be nice if at the very least that they gave a reasonable minimum to anyone who is drafted. 50k sounds like a good number to me.
  14. They are giving them 5k. They are cheap as f***. Just give them 50k. MLB teams tons of money.
  15. What's a realistic package for Giles?
  16. Wait, so when they give seniors 5k, that isn't to save pool money, that's just because MLB teams are cheap as f***?
  17. So, Spencer Jones.. at this point, he's unsignable right? What about these other top 150 prep guys... same story?
  18. I wonder if Kirk gets sent to double A soonish. Like 2/3 more weeks?
  19. Crap, really wanted Sanford. If I didn’t have faith in this front office drafting, I’d hate this draft so far. I think they’ve earned some trust tho.
  20. I literally thought it was good because the rays did it whch isn;t the best process I'll admit.
  21. How does trading comp picks work? I just found out today that that can be done.
  22. Tampa taking Jones.. seems like smart teams are taking tooled up guys and thinking they can develop them. It's like a role reversal of the early days of the stat revolution.
  23. Oh, you think he should have been hyping him more? I thought you meant he didn't really say anyhting. I guess so, but it's not really a big deal imo.
  24. Shewmake was a little off the board. First surprise pick?
