  1. Red sox turning down deVries and Cease for Duran is interesting. Probably offered even more than that.
  2. Nightengale posted that they are trading suarez and not trading him within 20 minutes lol
  3. Most 13 year old dominicans we promise several million dollars to also end up sucking. Finding the right 18 year old japanese/korean player to give a couple of million to and then turning around and giving a ton of latin american 16 year olds mostly 100k with some 500k sprinkled in seems like just as good a strategy.
  4. AJ Preller has to his core the belief that he can always find more and is rarely wrong. also, if he does try miller as a starter that would be interesting.
  5. If we could dump the berrios contract on the padres, i'd be estatic.
  6. If you are arguing me that 2022 should be the guuge of anything, then yea....
  7. Gausman is 35 and not coming off a major injury and has had three consecutive years including this one better than Bieber's last healthy year. Unless age regression kicks in massively in the next two months, its likely Gausman is better for the time we have control of Bieber. Next year, Bieber is probably better. We don't have him next year.
  8. That's a monster return. Preller probably has the next one on his complex somewhere but still that's crazy.
  9. Ah ok... Yea i'm meh on this until we see him pitch. This isn't an ace any more than Gausman is. And if it means Lauer and not Berrios goes to the pen, its barely a net positive based on this year so far. It also depends on if they value stephen like fangraphs does obviously.
  10. On his spotrac page, it says 2026 Player Option includes a $4M buyout What does that mean in practice? Can we pay $4m and essentially make It a 1yr $20m contract?
  11. But we are doing that supposedly.
  12. If you agreed with fangraphs on their valuation that is a pretty big overpay on Bieber. Unless his stuff looks amazing in the rehab starts. He was fantastic three years ago.
  13. In terms of projecting ability, wouldn't the high school japanese or korean demo always be easier to project than the 12/13/14 year old latin american demo? Or in other words, why isn't this a place where teams spend a big chunk of their pool each year?
  14. I think i saw somewhere today that preller thinks he could be a starter. Next year presumably.
  15. Its pretty brave to do a trade with the dodgers and rays.
  16. Barger has big exit velos and could really stick at third base. Loperfido does have over a 111mph exit velo which is a bit of a magic number but just corner outfield, barger has like 116/117 i think.
  17. Clase, Jimenez and Martinez are out of options next year.
  18. The ultimate cleveland guy, good defender who walks, doesn't strike out and hits for enough power.
  19. Yea Loperfido has way more than zero value. He was considered a pretty good prospect.
  20. I'm not going to say Roden will be Kwan... but i feel like there are definitely timelines where he gets to 90% of it.
  21. The problem with him is the last time he had a wrc+ over a 100 was 2022. I see your point though.
  22. The Twins are good at pitching as well so they probably know what to look for. I see KeBryan Hayes was dealt as well. If they can get him to even 95 wrc+...
  23. Just eyeballing surplus value, you'd need two our 50FV prospects at least to get Kwan if you believe projections.
  24. I wonder what the price on soroka was. He would have been a good get.
