  1. I despise Shitkins!
  2. Maybe a Syndergaard to Padres trade is in the works and a pitching prospect or two will be coming back via that route. Wishing thinking, I know.
  3. Maybe ownership wouldn't approve a Syndergaard trade without getting someone like Stroman first. Getting Stroman plus whatever they get back for Syndergaard actually is a pretty good move.... depending on what they gave up for Stroman.
  4. Me thinks we're going to be very disappointed with this trade.
  5. s***! Why couldn't Sanchez have pitched this well a month ago. That one month killed any trade value.
  6. Give me some Joe Ryan.
  7. Such a dumb rule, if that's the case.
  8. McGuire looks ridiculous with the headgear he's rocking.
  9. I've always been about extending. If you can't get a top 25 or even 50 propsect, why take the risk that the propsect can turn into something when you have a consistent ~4 war pitcher on your team? He's a proven commodity. We need pitching more than anything in this rebuild. Trading him just to trade would be one of the worst moves Shitkins could possibly do.
  10. Not according to the board here.
  11. You didn't read my post about how underrated Stroman is on this board, did you? Stroman should easily be able to get a prospect on Tucker's level. I'll agree it probably won't happen. Propsect valuation has skewed in the wrong direction lately. But if the Stros get their hands on Stroman, they'd instantly turn him into a Cy candidate...with control and the ability to extend. They are set in the short term when it comes to position players. They need more top pitching.
  12. I love hearing that the Stros are making a push for Stroman. Give me some Tucker+. It would be a great deal for both teams. Like I said before, they'll be able to make Stroman's k rate spike, and have a solid option behind Verlander if Cole leaves in FA.
  13. They will humor him for another year, and then Bichette is up...and Groshans could be ready in 2021. *Then* a move to first will be made.
  14. Nay, TWO intelligent posters!
  15. He is criminally underrated. Stroman ranked 23rd in all of baseball in fWar in 2014, despite only starting 20 games. He was injured most of 2015 and put up 4 solid starts after most assumed he wouldn't even be able to return. He put up 3.4 fWar in 2016, ranking 19th overall. Followed that up with 3.2 in 2017, placing him 20th. He had a down and injured year in 2018, but if you extrapolate his war based on a full season, he'd still rank around the top 30. And now he's pitching better than ever, and is currently ranked 19th in fWar, placing right behind Soroka and Verlander. He's been extremely consistent. Other than a team like the Stros, Dodgers, and Nats, right now, he'd be the most solid number 2 a team could expect...and a number 1 on many (that's not meaning he's an ace for those who will argue that point). Add in the fact that he's only 28, has an extra year of control, and the trading team would have an ability to try and extend, anything other than a top propsect and other pieces would be a massive disappointment.
  16. Guerrero's slow start, and other players like Jimenez, is enough to justify keeping Bichette down until next year. They both played much better offensively in AAA and are both struggling to find success right now. At least on the level expected.
  17. I can do without the ice cubes, but the halls, or menthol trick, is a dandy little treat.
  18. C'mon, that deal would totally blow up in the Nats face.
  19. He's painful to watch and deserves an insta-ban from every sports program possible for that comment alone.
  20. Keith Olbermann was on PTI today and stated that if the Mets trade Syndergaard, they better get back a MLB regular in return, and he mentioned Tatis Jr. as the comparable talent, and a "bunch" of prospects. What a maroon!
  21. Plus, they'll get the new and improved Stroman for next year's playoffs. Miley is an impending free agent.
  22. The move from the previous team, in the previous year, to the Stros resulted in these K rate jumps: Cole - 8.69 to 12.40 Verlander - 9.57 to 12.20 Morton - 6.70 to 10.00 Miley - 5.58 to 7.40 It's likely he'll get a boost. Don't know what's in the water in Texas, or what they're hiding on their fingers to get that spin rate.
  23. Especially if the Astros get their hands on him and all of a sudden his K rate spikes to over 12/9, becoming a legit ace with an extra year of control.
  24. This is all about the optics. Say if they just aren't getting reasonable offers, and there's no reason to deal just to deal, with the he extra year of control, then it would serve management to say that they're going to try and work on an extension. And either genuinely try and extend or hope for a better deal in the offseason. At least it would minimize public outrage from the casuals. Nothing can hurt from getting that information out.
