  1. Yeah, I don't believe that for a second. I think the Jays called and they Twins wouldn't move, so the Jays called their bluff, and now the Twins are trying to save face. Atkins said he went back to all teams that we're interested. I'd rather trust the word of a GM, who would benefit most by doing his due diligence when it comes to the trade, than a team who's taking a lot of heat for not making a big move.
  2. Some actually think what Garrett did was justified because the Pirates are a bunch of goons. Kela escalated the situation by throwing at Dietrich's head...which is more dangerous in my opinion.
  3. The part that I'm referring to is where the Twins state that the Jays never gave them a chance to match or beat the offer. The Jays are saying they went back before the trade and gave other teams a chance to give more value and they wouldn't. If the Jays never gave the Twins a chance up their offer, especially since they had time before deadline to pull the trigger, than that would be a big let down.
  4. Atkins stated that he went back to all the other legimatly interested teams after getting that offer and tried to get them to add more value, and they wouldn't. Who's lying?
  5. Au contraire, mon frere! Optics is huge when it comes to trades. Even within the industry. The Stroman trade was widely panned in MLB circles. Just because Shitkins put a higher value on the players coming back, he didn't need to negotiate based on those values. Neither is a top 100 propsect. If he was a great negotiator, and not getting a top current propsect, than go for quantity and get a couple more lotto tickets. The Sanchez trade, many in baseball viewed Sanchez as being a potential elite reliever, and the Stros believe they can do a Morton type transformation. And many believe Fisher is a 4th outfielder. Again, Sanchez and Biagini should've been enough to get him, without throwing in Stevenson. Not like Stevenson is much of anything, bit he didn't need to get included and we should've gotten a Stevenson type back for including Biagini. It just shows to me that he's not a good negotiator and can bend when he doesn't need to bend. If other teams get the idea they can squeeze more out of Shitkins, they will. If these 3 don't take a step forward, or even regresses, this deadline would be a massive failure. Without getting back top propsects at the moment, make it about quantity and spread out the risk.
  6. I actually do think Sanchez could be better than Greene. Greene is pitching way over his head at the moment. Fangraphs is predicting >4 in era and fip going forward. I believe that Wentz has just as much value as Fisher, or more. There's risks/rewards in both. I can certainly see Sanchez getting a better return if he's dominant in the pen. But like I said, that's based on the fact that I don't view Fisher very highly. I think he's going to be another player who plays well in the minors and it doesn't translate in the majors.
  7. I actually don't mind the Stroman trade. I think they made the best possible moves with the options out there. Siddell was on Sportsnet today and he said he was talking to people from multiple different organizations and was surprised how much lower they viewed Stroman than he did. I'm OK with a high risk/high reward guy like SWR. My only issue is I would've loved to have another lotto ticket even in the 25-30 propsect range. Even just to help a bit with the optics of the deal (albeit a small amount). My issue is with this Sanchez deal. I heard that the Stros plan on doing an overhaul on Sanchez like they did with Morton. If any organization can fix a pitcher, they can. I also heard reports that they only view Fisher as a 4th outfielder. So having to give up Biagini and Stevenson makes it look like Atkins is a little bitch and not very good at negotiating. Even if it was Sanchez and Biagini for Fisher and a Stevenson type player, it would've helped with the optics again. It seems like he just gives in to pressure and it will probably affect trades in the future. But above all, I don't like the fact they didn't stick Sanchez in the bullpen and she if he can be an elite reliever. Who the f*** cares if Sanchez wants to start. He doesn't run the show. Trade Giles in the offseason and stick Sanchez in closer"s role, and if performs well, than they could get a better haul next year. I'm just not sold on Fisher, but I hope I'm wrong.
  8. Yeah, but he slept with Matt Barnes ex-wife. Not a team player!
  9. Why can't we ever truly win a trade? You see wins all the time. Would love to see it on our end.
  10. FWIW, Hatch was the Cubs #7 ranked prospect as recent as 2017. There's been some nice stuff written about him as well. It's about as good a deal as you can get for Phelps, IMO.
  11. Not sure how to properly embed a Twitter post on here. But apparently I should be a MLB GM. Pretty much said exactly what I did.
  12. I don't think the Padres trade is as bad as some are making it. I know Trammell is having a down year, but he's only 21. He was a top 20 propsect last and still a top 30 on MLB and Fangraphs and has a FV of 55. I think Allen is way overrated and he's still only a backend top 100 guy. I'd rather trade him, a poor defensive corner outfielder, and a 40 ranked Padres propsect for the chance of him bouncing back and turning into a potential star center fielder.
  13. I think that my biggest issue with the trade. Even if they added one or two lower level players who will have a very small chance at success, it would make it more tolerable in most people's eyes. I have a hard time believing BVW wouldn't give up one more piece low down on their propsect depth chart.
  14. What happened to set Garrett off like that?
  15. Let's remember there was speculation that Bauer was going to get Tucker+. This is just as much a let down as the Stroman deal or worse, IMO. I don't care for Reyes and would rather Kay and SWR together over just getting Allen.
  16. How is it miles better? Allen is a backend top 100 guy. Kay was there up until a couple months ago. And if SWR continues to develop he'll make his way there as well. Please tell me Reyes isn't what's affecting your opinion on the deal.
  17. I can 100% guarantee that Kay or SWR will have a better career than Allen. Let's revisit this post in 10-20 years when their careers are over.
  18. Allard is now slotted number 16 on Texas prospects charts according to MLB.com. I think that should put to rest the Kay or Allard debate.
  19. Or they could've viewed Kay as the secondary piece and SWR is who they really care about, maybe??? Plus, it could also mean that AA is a dolt.
  20. Yeah, no way Allard is better than Kay. A future value fastball of 40 according to Fangraphs. Yuck! Kay has potential mid-starter stuff and Allard has potential backend starter stuff.
