It says on Fangraphs he's rule 5 eligible in Dec. '19. Doesn't that mean he has to be added?

I'm confused as to why they waited for an MRI and cortisone shot for Giles. If they had done that a week or two ago (he's been battling inflammation for a while), he might've been back in time for a game or so before the deadline. It's like they kept trying to push him before the trade deadline, but if they had treated it right, he could've been back pitching by now.

I love how these "so woke" guys, who are so quick to insult and attack due to a misguided interpretation of what someone says, are always are so quick to attack and block when someone challenges their point of view.

I've been defending Shitkins the past couple of days here. I really don't think they were offered more than what they recieved in the Mets deal. That's said, if a rental like Wheeler gets back more, I'll riot!

Exactly, they just said that the Jays were asking for is considerably more than what they got. It doesn't mean that teams we're offering considerably more talent. For example, I heard the Jays were asking for Kiriloff or Lewis. Maybe the Twins were offering Larnach + a couple non prospects. And the Jays valued Kay and SWR more even though Larnach is on the backend of some top 100 propsect lists.

These "other teams" can f*** off. They don't know the offers. From everything I read the Jays swung for the fences and asked for Lewis, Kiriloff, Garcia, etc. It's not Shitkins fault if none of the teams would budge on top propsects. It takes two teams to make a deal, and if they're offering s***, it's not the Jays fault for taking the best deal available.

The thing is we don't know the specifics behind the Mets offer. I heard that ownership was reluctant to move Syndergaard. Maybe in order to get full support, he told them that he'd try and get a player like Stroman, who has another year or control, then they can ship off Syndergaard and get a propsect haul. Maybe the Mets gave the Jays a deadline on the offer so it would give them time to work on a Syndergaard deal.

Would you dudes be OK with a return similar to Stroman's for Giles? Basically two players who slot around 5 or so in the prospect rankings?

Yeah, I thought it could be league based and wasn't sure how the league I'm in handles it.

When are players typically available in fantasy leagues after being called up? Is it after they start their first game, after the game is finished, or the next day?

I'm not really blaming Atkins for the trade. I just hate how we missed out trading him when propsects were more readily available to trade for playoff pushes. From reports I heard the Braves weren't interested, the Padres would prefer someone like Syndergaard, the Yanks weren't going to offer Garcia, the Twins said they weren't willing to trade top propsects, and the Astros didn't seem to make a big push. Atkins was just on Tim and Sid, and said there were 4 teams that were really interested, and the Mets had the highest value placed on Stroman. That package was the best offered. He also said that he went back to those other teams hoping they would move and add more value to their offers, and they wouldn't. I heard reports that prior to the trade, people were going to be disappointed in the return. But getting two pitching prospects who currently rank 4 and 6 in our system isn't the end of the world for a year and a couple months of Stroman. We knew he wasn't staying despite what he kept saying to the media. He wanted to test out free agency and hopes to sign with the Yankees.

Why the hell would Montoyo say he wasn't 100%? So stupid for him to put that out there.

They could be looking for position players and would rather give up a couple of the pitching prospects to get them.

I'm disappointed in this trade, but it seems reasonable considering the new climate in baseball. They aren't offering up top propsects like they did in the past. If you look at top prospects lists, there's a lot of players on teams that weren't agressive to add a starter. Plus, it was rumored that the Braves weren't interested in Stroman. The Twins said they weren't going to trade a top prospect at the moment. San Diego seemed to prefer other starters. And the Yanks weren't offering Garcia. I'd much rather this trade than have Frazier as the main piece. At least the pitchers are intriguing and could take a step forward. The more arms added, the more likely one could succeed. Would love a couple more interesting arms for Giles.

I think my biggest issue with the trade is that if you're trading for players on that level, you better be getting back more than 2, to spread out the risk. If you're getting a pitcher who projects as back end, and an 18 yr old in low ball, at least get another interesting piece. I always said I'd rather one top propsect than a few lower level propsects. But since they went that route, they should've got another interesting piece....even if it's a very raw low minors guy. This is incredibly frustrating!

He's an 18 year old pitching prospect. He should be a second piece with at least a current top 100 prospect coming back as well. This is f***ing pathetic!
