  1. I'm guessing it's the latter. Negotiating tactic. All about that leverage.
  2. Nice to see some fresh new names move into the top 10, especially Kirk, Moreno, and Hiraldo (Manoah was obviously going to crack it). It's also nice to have an Adrian Beltre comp on our 10th ranked prospect.
  3. He'll go to the Yankees for Garcia+. They aren't offering Garcia for Stroman and I want nothing to do with Frazier. It won't do much to the market for Stroman.
  4. I oddly forgot all about Tulo.
  5. Hmmm, the number of suitors and quality of offers have increased with recent success? And they now have a floor that they're comfortable with, and that bidding can further increase? I do believe I made that point yesterday about Stroman's start. If he pitched a dud yesterday, as in 6+ runs in 3 innings type of start, I think the momentum would be going the other way in talks. I feel vindicated.
  6. Bautista only fell off a cliff due to vision issues, remember.
  7. Wow. No idea his defense was that bad. Yeah, hard pass.
  8. I wouldn't totally oppose that. Is there any way they could flip Fraizer for a pitching prospect?
  9. Or they could base that assessment on his last start and go over his medicals. Teams use anything they can as leverage in negotiations. It's pretty standard. Look at what they did in arbitration against Stroman Basically tore him a new one. So I believe if they have any new information to argue their case, they will use it. I guess we'll just agree to disagree on that point.
  10. Exactly. If teams have the set price on him and won't move based on leverage, be transparent and say that you're going over the offers and want to protect the pitcher until you've made up your mind. It's not a crazy concept to want to protect your player from injury before a trade. Most GM's aren't idiots and would get that line of thinking.
  11. Like I said, it can bring leverage to the situation, albeit a small amount. If he pitches a gem, they could be willing to move, even *slightly* into the demands. If he gets lit up, then it can also be used in trade talks. I know it's not a difference maker between a Kiriloff being offered or not, but it still can be used to create movement one way or the other. There's scouts at the game for a reason despite all the videos and advanced analytics on every player. And they aren't there to evaluate if his UCL is on the verge of implosion.
  12. With all due respect, sir, there's a much greater chance that he pitches great, ok, or poorly, than his UCL exploding.
  13. I'm basing that on the assumption they're already high on him, and if he does well, they could give up a bit more value. And if he doesn't have the best game, they can use that as leverage in trade talks.
  14. All a part of the chess game they're playing.
  15. Does anyone else feel that the Twins are waiting to see how Stroman pitches against the Indians tonight? They play the Indians 10 more times this year. A game or two can be the difference maker. If he pitches well, I predict a trade to the Twins in a day or two.
  16. Yeah, but that was a totally reasonable offer. He should've jumped on it. If there's a similar offer for Stroman, of course you'd pull the trigger before tonight's start. We just don't know if they're getting low-balled at moment. I also don't understand why teams often times wait up until the deadline before trading. I get it with teams like the Cardinals, at the moment. But a team like the Twins with some needs, who could benefit from a starter/reliever, should've done it sooner. The Indians could very well take over the division, maybe by a game or two. Making those moves earlier could potentially help protect the division lead. They could've used Giles last night, that's for sure.
  17. I never get that thinking. Maybe they have s*** offers right now while teams are waiting on which teams are going to sell. You don't trade just to make a trade. If they're not getting the value back that they're looking for, just hold on to him. Wait it out and hope other teams will pay more closer to the deadline. They still have another year or control. Now if there's a decent offer out there, while not even being close to the Archer return, than I agree, pull the trigger now.
  18. Are you talking about the discussion by Tim from Tim and Sid? There's no way Shitkins would even imply that whilst Stroman is on the trading block.
  19. You try and use players like Oh to acquire 40/45 players, like Wall. You use Stroman to try and get a potential impact player and some smaller pieces on top. I'd much rather quality than quantity in that move, with the depth they've built...and they still have more time to add to the system before they're ready to compete. Giles, at the very least, should be able to get two 45s if they can't get a top 100 player for him. I mean according to Fangraphs, the 132nd ranked prospect has a FV of 50.
  20. The sad thing is that I can see that as the kind of deal that will happen.
  21. I really don't understand this. If there is even another team willing to give him a shot, why not the Jays. Really, what is there to lose?Send McKinney down and bring up Pompey. We're playing only for a high draft pick at this point anyway. Even if they aren't high on him, they could hope he has a hot couple months and then trade him in the offseason and get at least something for him.
  22. Famed psychologist S.S. Janus concluded that the early lives of all comedians in his study were "marked by suffering, isolation, and feelings of deprivation. Humor offered a relief of their suffering and a defense against inescapable panic and anxiety". You OK, C. Danger?
  23. That did it. Thanks.
  24. Btw, why does jaysguy's Yates quote always auto-populate in every message I attempt to write? Just had to delete it in this one.
