  1. Point being, there's no financial consideration with him. He's not the type of prospect you play service time/Super 2 games with. The real reason he's being kept down right now is probably to get everyday playing time and also get reps in on multiple positions. He's only played the OF in 1 game so far.
  2. Baty over Carroll for me personally. The more I see him, the the more I like. If you think he can hit, his age should be a plus imo. You can start moving him through the minors quicker.
  3. We should be ecstatic if Biggio ever even gets to the point where he's making millions in arbitration.
  4. Buck just said we likely won't see Vladdy pinch hitting in this game because the Angels don't have a lefty in their pen. Please for the love of god get him out of here.
  5. I kinda doubt this because (a) Atkins always goes out of his way to mention Biggio when talking about the prospects he's excited about in interviews, and ( Bowden is also a gigantic idiot.
  6. Vlad not in the lineup tonight ""to give him a day to relax a bit", according to Montoyo
  7. Twins might be legit. Take 3 out of 4 against the Stros.
  8. Biggio goes to a 3-2 count. Fouls off 4 straight pitches to finally work a walk
  9. I meant he's been a league average bat so far, despite the fact that he's been fed more breaking balls. He usually gets better as the season goes on anyways. Career OPS in Apr/March is .646. Starting June on, he's been a career .800+ OPS bat. The fact that he's more or less been league average early on is a good sign, and this is despite the adjustments the pitchers are making around him.
  10. Career FB%: 52.1% 2019 FB%: 46.7% They've already started throwing him more. And despite that, he's still about league average offensively. He's fine.
  11. Cavan Biggio just hit another dinger. Now has a .495 OBP through 24 games. It would be nice to get a high OBP guy like him on a team with the 5th worst OBP in the majors.
  12. Tellez gets on base. Vladdy hits his first HR to tie the game.
  13. Our defense f***ed up so bad that Albert Pujols was able to score from 1st
  14. Weird s*** happens all the time in the draft. High ranked players always fall on draft day for one reason or another. Last season, Singer, Libertore, and Gorman were all available when we picked. Chances are, some top ranked guys fall to us. I'm liking the idea of a Brett Baty a lot. He seems to be the best high school hitter. He's projected to go in the 20-30 range, but he's good enough that you can warrant him at #11. Go underslot for a good player, and then use the savings to go overslot in the later rouds. Basically the same strategy we adapted with Groshans/Kloffenstein.
  15. Bichette plays shortstop. Biggio can play in the OF
  16. He's been whiffing nearly 50% of the batters he's faced with his slider. His changeup has been great in a small sample size too: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/sam-gaviglio-543208?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  17. I'm a little curious to know what tercets thoughts are on Cavan Biggio. Less than 20% k-rate so far, and he walks a lot with good power. Is he going to cite contact issues? Or the good ol' "crushes mistakes and misses on good pitches"?
  18. The best part of this is that Gurriel hit a double as soon as you posted this. He's now 3-for-5 today with a homer and a double in the 2nd game of the day for the Bisons.
  19. Looking through our depth chart, and I totally forgot that Devon Travis was even on this team. He is totally buried right now behind Sogard, Drury, Gurriel, and probably even Biggio. I feel bad for the kid. I would say trade him, but I wonder if anyone even would trade for him given his injury history.
  20. Statcast loves Drury despite his terrible start. 14.8% barrel% .473 xWOBACON. This especially sticks out to me because this takes into account quality of contact. 45.9% Hard hit rate xWOBA of .324 (this isn't exactly great, but still significantly better than his .290 actual wOBA that he's posting). All in all, I see what the appeal is with Drury. There's something there. He can hit the ball really hard. It's just a matter of finding some measure of consistency. He might strikeout a lot and not walk much, but I really like him as a bottom of the order bat. When Brian Cashman trades a decent haul for you, you have to be somewhat good.
  21. Gurriel just went yard again. He's hitting .381 with 4 HR.
  22. Casey Mize just pitched a no-hitter in his AA debut. 9IP 1BB 7K in 98 pitches. Kid is a stud.
