  1. Alek Manoah 2019: 14 GS, 1.91 ERA, 11.39 K/9, 2.10 BB/9, 6.01 H/9, 0.29 HR/9, 2 CGSHO He was even better in the Cape Cod League against legitimate college competition and also won Big-12 Pitcher of the Year.
  2. Full quote by Sanders on Manoah. “Alek’s a big guy, but he’s tremendously athletic. He’s done a great job getting himself into really good shape. He hauled a lot of innings this year and maintained extremely high-level stuff from wire to wire. That’s something that a big, durable frame will help him do. We’re certainly confident in Alek’s athleticism and work ethic. We see him as a big, strong, durable guy that has the chance to take the ball every five days in a major-league rotation.” Leave it to the media to misconstrue the tone of a statement.
  3. Hoping for Carroll with Manoah off the board
  4. Good pick by the Sox. Vaughn is gonna fly through the minors.
  5. Final MLB.com mock. Callis has us taking Manoah Mayo has us taking Zack Thompson
  6. Final Fangraphs mock: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mock-draft-4-1-the-final-mock/ Has us taking Manoah as well.

  8. Can anyone quickly post this: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/final-2019-mlb-mock-draft/
  9. I'll end up supporting whoever they pick. They've been pretty exceptional when it comes to drafting so I'll trust their judgement over the incredibly limited information we have. But I would be tickled pink if we get Carroll.
  10. 94.18% percentile barrell speed as well. Carroll can hit, plus he'll be a better defender than Baty. 70 grade speed as well. Sign me up. I really hope he falls to us. He's been tied to the Braves as well.
  11. 2017 draftee Zach Logue will make his first AAA start today. He had a decent run in AA: 10 GS, 3.70 ERA, 3.96 xFIP, 6.48 K/9, 2.01 BB/9 Four-seam Fastball — 90-93 Two-seam Fastball — 88-91 Slider — 78-81 Changeup — 80-82 Lefty as well. Could end up being a decent back of the rotation guy.
  12. Wow, they have barrell speed and exit velo for high school hitters? I'm about to go down a rabbit hole now
  13. Pitching class seems weak, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to go pitching if basically everyone is going position players early. Draft seems deep enough to get some position players in the 2nd and 3rd.
  14. Hector Perez had a pretty great May in AA: 6 GS, 2.34 ERA, 7.8 K/9, 2.5 BB/9 Hopefully he's locked down some of that control.
  15. Latest MLB.com Mock: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-draft-on-june-2 Has us taking Manoah Rutledge goes to the Braves Carroll falls to Dbacks
  16. It's exactly this. Go look at the Top 10 leaders in in Brls/PA. It's almost all exclusively guys having great hitting seasons. Teoscar Hernandez had an elite barrel rate last season, and Grichuk has always been a Statcast darling. Both of those guys are legitimately a plate adjustment away from being impact type bats, and you can dream on them to do so given their relative youth, plus in the case of Teoscar banking him to improve the more major league PA's he got.
  17. Jake Sanford Western Kentucky OF Notes: Ht: 6-2 | Wt: 215 | B-T: --- Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted Scouting Report: Sanford is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound outfielder who put up gaudy numbers this spring in Conference USA. Through 56 games, Sanford posted a .398/.483/.805 line with 22 home runs and 20 doubles. Sanford has plenty of strength and plus-plus raw power, though there are scouts who question how much of that power he can get to against better pitching. Prior to his junior season with Western Kentucky, Sanford had two impressive offensive seasons with McCook (Neb.) JC and he doesn’t have much wood bat track record to speak of. Sanford is fringey defensively, as a below-average runner with a below-average arm that will limit him to left field or first base, putting plenty of emphasis on his bat. Canadian boy who just had a historical season in the AtlSun league. Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him in the 3rd or 4th round.
  18. Add another 3 hits for Captain Kirk. He’s now hitting .393 with a .477 OBP Joey Murray: 6IP, 2H 1ER 2BB 8K 88 pitches. Conine: 3-for-4 with a double and a triple Cullen Large: 3-for-4 with 2 doubles. Now hitting .304/.392/.497
  19. Ownership prioritized competing over rebuilding to keep fan interest high. Shapiro has all but said that he would've torn it down post 2017. He made a good trade the one time he had a good asset to sell. Roberto Osuna ended up netting them Ken Giles + 2 pretty good pitching prospects. You can be disappointed at the Happ trade, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a 35 year old rental and not necessarily an elite pitcher. Cashman actually came across as worse in that trade. Traded away Taylor Widener, Nick Solak, Billy McKinney, and Brandon Drury all for 1/2 a season of JA Happ.
  20. The Rockies just optioned Kyle Freeland. He had a 7.31 ERA. He finished 4th in Cy Young last season. Has there been a guy in recent memory who placed Top 5 in Cy Young voting and then got optioned the following year?
  21. Trading or free agency. It's how a lot of the current contenders built their rotations. Most of their rotations aren't exactly home grown.
  22. This is pretty speculative on my part, but I think it comes down to a difference of valuations between the Front Office and Marcus. Probably by a fairly wide margin as well. Through age 28, he actually stacks up fairly similar to Sonny Gray. Gray: 900 IP, 3.66 ERA, 3.74 FIP, 3.1 BB/9, 7.9 K/9 Stroman: 734 IP, 3.80 ERA, 3.62 FIP, 2.6 BB/9, 7.3 K/9 Gray got 4 years and $38M. The Reds definitely got a bit of a discount there give his down season, but even if you increase it to 5 years and $55M taking into account him being a year younger, I can't really see Stroman taking that deal.
  23. Twins could also use Stroman or Giles. Would love to get Alex Kiriloff.
  24. Also, Ronny Brito (SS we got in the Martin trade) made his season debut in High-A yesterday. Quite an aggressive move placing him in Dunedin when he only played in Rk league before. He went 2-for-4 with a walk.
