  1. I don’t even really hate the Yankees as a team. I actually think they are quite likeable, and I’m a fan of the way Brian Cashman operates. But Yankee fans are some of the scummiest on earth, and I’ll never not have a gigantic smile on my face every time we or any other team beat them.
  2. The difference being that he cost twice as much in guaranteed money than Yates did. Still think signing Yates to that contract was a great move even if it didn’t end up working out. They knew exactly what they were getting into. The upside was tremendous.
  3. Teoscar is going to hit the first homer of the season for the Blue Jays off Cole.
  4. My guess is Story gets more than that if he has another good season, albeit probably not that much more. There is an element of paying a premium for star power to these Lindor/Tatis contracts that the Story and Correa contracts just aren't going to have (Correa may not simply due to his injury history). I'd be a little surprised if Story gets more than $200M, unless a team like the Mariners/Tigers gets desperate to take the next step in their rebuilds (entirely possible).
  5. Good for Lindor! On a side note, if that’s what it took to extend him, I’m ecstatic that we got Springer instead.
  6. I don't think they're planning on piggybacking Matz. Probably Zeuch followed Merryweather or Kay is my guess.
  7. I'm incredibly excited to see Martin's progression this year. Usually college position players of his calibre breeze through the minor leagues. Bregman, Swanson, Rendon, Conforto, Schwarber, Bryant all made their debuts the year after they were drafted. And most of them didn't even play as well as Martin did in a tougher college division. He is a special kind of talent Probably won't see him this year, but he could be looking at a debut early next season if all goes well.
  8. Pretty smart move by Shapiro/Atkins to not trade for Lindor. Probably did their due diligence regarding what it would take to extend Lindor without him testing free agency and realized it wasn't worth the combination of his absurdly high ask and the prospect capital for a 1-year rental in a season where we're not exactly going all in. Not sure they would've pulled the trigger unless they more or less had a deal in place beforehand. Much happier that we got Springer for basically just cash and 2nd round pick.
  9. Because Mark Shapiro isn’t an idiot who self-imposes non-sensical restrictions such as not going more than 5 years on a free agent contract or not dealing with Scott Boras clients. And he also has more confidence from Rogers than any prior President/CEO did. Not saying this means we’ll get Lindor, but the way this current Blue Jays regime operates is not the same as we’re accustomed to. They actually have 1-3-5 year plans as opposed to flying by the seat of their pants, and that instills confidence in ownership to invest more money. I wouldn’t bet on us getting Lindor, but I wouldn’t be entirely surprised either.
  10. I can't be the only one who thinks that a tweet like those from the owner of team is a little scummy. Seems like he's trying to protect himself and the Mets public perception in the event that Lindor doesn't sign. A byproduct of which will be fans turning their animosity to Lindor. Wonder what Lindor thinks about his negotiation playing out so publicly and that move.
  11. Well that was a very enjoyable spring barring the injuries, especially when we played the Phillies (7-0 record against them lol)
  12. Rangers DFA Rougned Odor
  13. NSFW level bat speed
  14. Granted, that was a cookie, but still impressive for Espinal to take a 99 mph fastball by Alvarado deep. Good to know he's waiting in the minors in case of injury. Always been intrigued by his profile
  15. That was a seriously impressive homer off the bat of Orelvis Martinez.
  16. I think that’s the last thing that they need to do, given Reese’s history.
  17. So Borucki touched 98 mph on his fastball today, alongside a 90 mph cutter/slider. He’s still having trouble harnessing the new found velocity and movement, but if he can figure out how to locate effectively, he really could be a weapon out of the bullpen.
  18. He’s gonna be traded for a PTBNL in days I would imagine.
  19. Warmoth has been hitting the ball hard all spring.
  20. Luke Voit has a partial meniscus tear. He’s not gonna play games until atleast May.
  21. Some nice defense on display that inning.
  22. ATC Projections released https://blogs.fangraphs.com/atc-2021-projected-standings-and-playoff-odds/ Has us going 87-75, but that’s with giving up the 6th most runs in the league? Almost on par with the Pirates, which doesn’t pass the smell test for me. That would be worst case scenario for this pitching staff IMO. Maybe it’s taking into account park factors for Buffalo/Dunedin? On the plus side, we’re projected to score the 2nd most runs in the majors. Even just league average pitching will get us to ~91 wins if that offensive projection holds up.
