  1. Rays are not exactly hot right now, they have Franco on the DL, and their rotation is in complete disarray (Yarborough and Wacha are their only real starters, and Patino isn't with the team). Plus, we're at home where we've played really well. I know we're 5-8 against the Rays this season, but we've played them tough all season and definitely blew some games when our bullpen was still a trashfire. Might be famous last words, but I think taking 2 out of 3 is likelier than most people think.
  2. The only thing sweeter than the Yankees losing 5-2 would be them losing after they tied it up late. Give em just enough hope and then trample on it.
  3. I would be more excited if the Yankees didn't have have a habit of serving soul crushing losses to the Twins since the inception of the universe.
  4. The Yankees are the walking dead right now. I haven't seen a more lifeless team in the majors this year. The Orioles, Rangers, Royals, DBacks all suck, but at least they look like they're trying. They're just really bad. On a side note, the Twins seem like an actually decent-to-good lineup. Hopefully our pitching shows up in those games, because we can easily be burned by their hitters. Don't think those games are as easy cakewalks at it may seem by their record.
  5. AJ Preller is the most overrated GM in the league. For as much was made about the Padres rebuild, there is very little actual homegrown talent that they themselves developed. The vast majority of that Padres roster is built either through trades (Cronenworth, Pham, Grisham, Myers, Musgrove, Darvish, Snell) or free agency (Hosmer, Machado). Tatis is really the only "homegrown" guy, and I think it's safe to say he would've been a superstar anywhere. There's a legitimate question to be raised about their player development. I think he's a fantastic amateur scout, but his decision making when it comes to major league transactions is also questionable at best. I cannot fathom how any major league GM gives Eric Hosmer $144M when there was such a consensus that he was a landmine.
  6. This is so insane to me, as someone who's been watching Lourdes Gurriel swing at everything since 2018: 2021 1st half: 3.83% BB%, 20.13 K% 2021 2nd half: 10.8% BB%, 15.3% K% He's almost tripled his walk rate in the 2nd half. Also:
  7. Padres are 25-35 since the beginning of June.
  8. He was one of the more unluckier hitters in baseball last season, so I expected him to have some positive regression this season. Statcast backs him up too: 89.6 mph avg exit velo 43% hard hit rate Hopefully he can keep it up.
  9. Gary Sanchez is so god awful at framing. I’m cringing at his receiving in this game.
  10. Long term, if Moreno's bat is as special as we think it is, it may be a good idea to shift him to a less demanding physical position. Especially since we have tons of depth at catcher anyways. Just makes too much sense.
  11. Ideal scenario: - Kirk/Jansen both stick as a catching tandem - Moreno can stick either at 2B or 3B long term - Groshans fills the gap (2B or 3B) where Moreno isn't.
  12. Gabriel Moreno is playing in the FCL today (rehab assignment) Already 3-for-3 with a double. Picking up right where he left off lol
  13. The Giants have been the first team to 50, 60, 70, 80, and now 90 wins. This has to be one of the more unexpectedly great seasons in recent baseball history. Every projection system had them between 70-80 wins, and it’s likely they’re gonna win 100+
  14. Astros just tied it up against the Mariners in the 9th!
  15. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. since June 1st. .297/.349/.510, 130 wRC+. More impressively, he's walking at a decent enough clip: 7.4% BB%. He had a terrible April/May, but has really turned it around since.
  16. Lmao Ohtani is basically a lock for MVP. Dude is literally a -6000 favourite right now in Vegas. He’s gonna be close to, if not, unanimous too. There’s very little Vlad or the Jays can do to help him at this point. Playoffs don’t matter when something as historical as this is materializing. He’s putting together one of the most memorable and great seasons in baseball history.
  17. Also, pretty crazy stat:
  18. 10-2 Astros now. I hope to god this is start of the Mariners tailspin closer to their true talent level.
  19. If the Astros win, we’ll jump ahead of the Mariners in the Wild Card standings with 3 left to play against a scuffling Yankees team and the O’s coming up in the weekend. This team has certainly made it interesting this past week. Still lots of work to do, but gotta give them credit.
  20. Lol did McHugh just intentionally balk so that the Red Sox couldn’t steal signs from second?
  21. Just tuning into the Mariners games, and wow Kelenic has been mega bad this year over a pretty decent sample size at this point. 49 OPS+, -1.8 WAR, I get he’s still young and will probably turn it around, but empirically speaking there haven’t been many players in history to start a career being that bad that turn into superstars.
  22. So the Mets GM (Zack Scott) was apparently busted for a DUI at 4AM last night after he was at Steve Cohens house in Connecticut for a fundraiser. Quite the season they’re having, those Mets.
  23. Also, didn't see this posted, but sure to excite some people on here:
  24. Manuel Beltre: July: 11 games: .130/.208/.196 August: 15 games: .364/.563/.545 I think he's figuring it out. Another guy who's figuring it out: Rikelbin de Castro. .873 OPS in August
