  1. It's interesting that Law has heard us more with college guys while Kiley+Longenhagen have said they heard us more with prep players.
  2. Keith Law has us picking Jonathan India at #12. I'll be doing backflips if he falls to us. Realistically, give me one of Swaggerty, Kelenic, or Gilbert in that order. Stay away from Jackson Kowar, Nolan Gorman, Shane McLanahan, and Ryan Rolison, atleast with our first pick.
  3. Would you guys go with Seth Beer with our 2nd round pick? Guy has hit everywhere even though he doesn't really have a position. Do you draft him for his bat and hope his athleticism will translate over to defense in the majors?
  4. I’d stay far away from McLanahan. Great stuff, but sky high walk rate. Usually never works out well. Personally think the A’s end up with one of Kelenic or Swaggerty. Hopefully the one they don’t pick ends up falling to us.
  5. Gilbert is underrated. 14GS 2.52 ERA 143K/20BB 0.80 WHIP 5.40H/9 12.9 K/9. Solid track record all 3 years of college + solid track record in the Cape Cod league. I'd prefer him over both McLanahan and Rolison who we're both tied to. He'll probably also be available at #12, and if neither Swaggerty, Liberatore, or Kelanic are available, I'd love to have him.
  6. Mike Trout already has 5 bWAR in 57 games played. That's a 162 game pace of 14.2 WAR
  7. Plenty of arms with great stuff and no command will be available to us with our second pick. It'll more come down to the fact that better players than McLanahan will be available to us at #12, and with the draft you should always go with the best player left.
  8. Baseball-America Top 100 update: 1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 7. Bo Bichette 57. Anthony Alford 79. Nate Pearson 81. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 96. Danny Jansen 6 Top 100 prospect. Nice to see Danny Jansen finally get some non-Frangraphs love too.
  9. According to Kiley McDaniel, we're heavily targeting prep players for our 1st pick unless a college player that's not supposed to fall gets to us. Apparently we have a chance at Swaggerty. It would be fantastic to get Swaggerty at #12, but I'd also be very happy with a prep bat like Kelanic. I hope we stay far away from Nolan Gorman and Shane McLanahan. If we want a power lefty bat, I'd much rather go with Larnach who atleast has more of a track record. Meanwhile McLanahan has a big walk problem. Other college players I like for our later picks: Luken Baker, Josh Stowers, Kris Bubic, Nick Sandlin, Mickey Gasper and Nick Dunn
  10. Writing off a 22-year-old in his first full season in pro-ball is dumb. Just because you don't go on a tear in the minors, doesn't mean you're done as a prospect. Not everyone can be Bo and Vlad.
  11. I don't think any 19-year-old has ever done what he's doing while walking as much/more than he's striking out in AA. We're legitimately watching one of the greatest AA seasons of all time.
  12. Package them both for Austin Riley and Touki Toussant.
  13. Vlad and Cavan Biggio are now ranked 1 and 2 in OPS in the Eastern League
  14. Juan Soto today: 1-1 with 3 walks. Him and Bryce Harper are the only teenagers in the last 40 years to walk 3 times in a game.
  15. Justin Verlander just recorded his 2500th K of his career by striking out Ohtani. Also complete game shut out the Angels on 5 hits and 1BB on 118 pitches. He drops his ERA from 1.21 to 1.05. Should be a no doubt hall of famer, especially if he wins the Cy Young this season.
  16. Kevin Smith had a 2-5 day with a homer and a double.
  17. BA just posted their latest Mock draft: https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/mlb-mock-draft/ Anyone who has a membership mind posting this?
  18. Happ has had as many hits as the Mets this game.
  19. Way too early to tell for Biggio, but Jake Lamb could be a good comp. Strikes out a fair bit but takes his share of walks, 20+ HR power, meh defense. All in all, solid 2 WAR INF.
  20. Warmoth is blocking him at SS in High-A. Maybe give Smith some playing time at 3rd?
  21. Cavan Biggio just hit his 12th HR Vlad is 2-2 with 2 doubles.
  22. The age-appropriate level isn't a good argument. He's 23 and the average age in the Eastern League is 24 according to baseball-reference: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/league.cgi?id=2b4b5855 He's at the right level according to his age. But you're right that we shouldn't go full chub just yet. What helps his and Kevin Smith's case this season is that both apparently made swing changes in the offseason. In the case of Cavan, I'm more optimistic that he can be a MLB regular. He always had a good sense of the strike zone and made good contact to all sides of the field even going back to his college days. Biggest knock against him was his power, but he seems to have grown into that.
  23. Another hit for Vladdy. Now hitting .411 Dalton Pompey homered twice. From both sides of the plate.
  24. Ian Desmond is still terrible. 43 OPS+ and worth -1.2 WAR already. On top of that, they're paying him $22M this season. Him and Chris Davis make me feel a little better about Kendrys Morales.
  25. Vlad Jr. and Bichette break down their AB's: https://www.mlb.com/video/breakdown-with-bichette-vlad-jr/c-2042641983?tid=26271672
