  1. I'd have no qualms with trading Tiedemann but still maintain it should be for more than a pure rental player.
  2. Even knowing that I still wouldn't trade an elite starting pitching prospect for a rental player, no matter how good the rental.
  3. This would help Tiedemann stay healthy in the future?
  4. That's probably the most reasonable stance for most reliever trades at the deadline.
  5. In that case you better change your stance on Fielder and blame his obesity for the early retirement.
  6. I think I legit missed that you actually agreed with a post I made. I suppose there's a first time for everything.
  7. Huh? Prince Fielder wasn't forced to retire because he was fat. Try to keep up.
  8. Fielder had a degenerative spine. He was also morbidly obese. It's entirely possible for these things to exist simultaneously and not be directly related to each other. This would be like blaming Vlad's history of wrist issues on the fact that he's a heavyset player instead of being someone that swings a bat hundreds if not thousands of times a week for a living. Prince played a highly rotational sport and had a rather violent swing, both of which are things that would have greatly exacerbated a degenerative spinal condition.
  9. I'd put more money on Hague being responsible.
  10. That Bloody tampon dude is just perfectly named as he shows up once a month, makes some bitchy comments and then disappears for another month.
  11. He doesn't exactly strike me as a particularly quick witted dude.
  12. Statcast search is the tool you need for this. It's a little finicky to utilize compared to Fangraphs but it provides more granular data, including the ability to sort expected stats over specified time frames. The best way I've found to change the included statistics is using the "change included stats" tab on the bottom of the page. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search
  13. Yeah it's generally been a rough season for the minors. As you mentioned all of the guys in Buffalo who were having offensive success have found their ways up to the big league team so there's little of interest to follow. Rainer Nunez has been hitting much better in recent months after a terrible April (133 wRC+ in his last 49 games in AA) but he was one of the few relative success stories I could even find. Kasevich hit for a good average for quite some time but this was completely tempered by lack of power, Nimmala has provided a ton of power output since returning from the developmental list but he's still really struggled with strikeouts
  14. I have a feeling Vlad may be legitimately fixed at the plate. He's into a nearly 3 month stretch of 160'ish wRC+ production. That's exactly the type of bat you want to build around. It's a shame he's becoming borderline unplayable in the field though as the defense hasn't improved despite the obvious improvements to his physical fitness. I have no idea what kind of extension offer would actually entice Vlad to sign though. He will always have the bad body concerns hanging over him, and 1B/DH types aren't getting the massive long term deals in this day and age either.
  15. I don't think the organization actually wanted to trade Halladay as he asked to be traded to have a chance to compete.
  16. The guy is injured and having an awful season. What's the rush to trade him if it's going to return pennies on the dollar?
  17. Bo is expected to be out several weeks at minimum and the trade deadline is only like a week away. Seems like the two sides are stuck with each other for the time being.
  18. He reportedly slimmed down and took up yoga in the offseason. It's not like he's suddenly a stickman or something though as he's obviously carrying plenty of muscle on his frame.
  19. That could easily end up like JA Happ for McKinnery and Drury all over again.
  20. Springer very well may in the midst of an offensive breakout, it just took several months into the season for it to start.
  21. There are reports floating around the internet that Bo actually preferred to be drafted by the Blue Jays and told other teams he wouldn't sign with them. This seems to indicate he was perfectly happy to be a Toronto Blue Jay. This doesn't discount the possibility that he would prefer to be moved at this juncture for sure but it's a giant stretch to suggest he never wanted to be in Toronto.
  22. All of the best pitching prospects are hurt. That includes Maroudis, Tiedemann, Macko and Barriera.
  23. That's nonsense. One of the pitches being called a ball was the instance of Gausman missing his spot by the entire width of the plate and Jansen had to reach to catch it, that's not Jansen's fault. Another one was a very borderline pitch that was basically a 50/50 call at best.
  24. Did he force Gausman to throw a middle middle meatball?
  25. What's done is done, I just hope that he can maintain some of these gains into next season.
