It sounds like he's fine as X-Rays didn't show any new damage. I can't even begin to imagine how much it had to hurt getting hit exactly on the broken toe even though he had a guard in place.

He's been chipping in with a lot of big hits in recent games. I like the power potential in his bat a lot if he can find a way to put the ball in play with more frequency. I also have to give acknowledgement to Myles Straw who may be on his way to showing that his solid 2025 season (by his standards) wasn't necessarily a fluke.

Yeah Sanchez appears to be uncomfortable in the outfield as he looks very unnatural/awkward out there. Despite this he's typically produced decent advanced metrics out there. I think there will be a battle for playing time between all of Sanchez/Barger/Pinango and Lukes. If Pinango continues to rake and Barger fully establishes himself as a fixture in right field that could eventually lead to the team facing a tough decision as that's 4 lefty outfield bats and only 2 outfield spots available for them. Varsho is obviously going nowhere, and Straw is really the only legitimate backup center field option so he's not likely in any danger of removal either so it will be interesting to watch how the roster unfolds.

Sanchez managed to produce 7 DRS in right field last season so I think Pinango would be in tough to beat that right now. To my eyes it does look like Pinango maybe needs to work on his reads/routes but that's something that can hopefully improve in time. Based on early results it seems as though Pinango suffers from the same suboptimal attack angle issues as Vlad and Sanchez that leads to a ton of hard contact on the ground. All 3 of these guys have a lot of power potential if the coaching staff can unlock some improvements to the launch angle but I do think Pinango has a very high floor at the very least if he continues to square up the baseball as he has been so far.

Hopefully it's just a matter of a bit of an early season team wide slump ala a season ago. A lot of the players expected to provide power have gotten off to slow starts in the power department including all of Springer, Barger and Vlad and once these bats heat up there should be enough slug in the lineup to start scoring in bunches.

I have no issue with reasonable criticism of the current version of the Blue Jays as there are plenty of issues that are worthy of criticism. I do however expect this to come with even a modicum of thought processes behind it and even a minimal attempt to look beneath the surface. You are stuck in this black and white/binary thinking pattern again. This team could end up being more of a mid-high 80's win wildcard team ala 2023 as the team looks to have a solid run prevention unit but trouble scoring runs, maybe they go on another crazy run like last season as suggested and challenge for the division, or injuries continue to hammer the team and they disappoint in more of a .500 season or worse etc. Injuries are absolutely an excuse for losing games when you are playing at something closer to a 60% strength roster. If the team was largely healthy then it would be perfectly fair to view the poor record against weaker opposition as being completely unacceptable, but this team has been cursed with as many early season injuries as I can remember in the last few decades. It seems you think that a team should have enough depth to cover for missing 4/5 of an MLB rotation (Ponce/Berrios/Cease/Yesavage)to the point where it's necessary to use the 7th/8th/9th rotation options with regularity and 3 of your best hitters. The remaining players need to pick up the slack but the team has largely weathered the storm and some of the injured players are starting to work their way back.

He did manage to club 10 home runs in June of 2021 to go along with 1.8 FWAR for the month. He's come a long ways defensively since then so it's possible he could produce something like a 2 win month if he fully locks in the power stroke.

Bo will be another year older so I have a bit of a hard time seeing him receiving another $200 million contract offer. It doesn't appear as though he's been regaining any athleticism either as he's slowed on the bases even further compared to his final season as a Blue Jay.

It's crazy to think but Vlad is on a 6.6 FWAR pace so far despite sitting at 2 home runs at the end of April.

Yeah that place seemed like a total dump. If I recall correctly it had a white roof that made it a nightmare for the fielders to track balls in the air as well as the trash bag walls.

Bo will heat up at the plate eventually, there's no conceivable way he's this bad over a full season if he's healthy.

Yes he's an asset. He was literally one of MLB's best backup catchers last season and his presence allows the team to maintain a solid depth option in AAA in Valenzuela. The team would stand to lose Heineman and that likely would leave them without an appropriate depth option in the minors.

I think you aren't giving Nance the recognition he deserves. He doesn't have any remaining options and I believe he would be snatched up immediately if the team tried to send him down. He has nothing to figure out in Buffalo, he simply needs to strand more baserunners when they get on base. Nance had a single tough outing this season against the Dodgers, and was also victimized by Fisher allowing several of his runners to score in an inherited situation the other time he allowed multiple runs to cross the plate. Take a look at Fisher and Nance's respective xERA/FIP and tell me that Nance should be jettisoned from the club: Nance 3.75 xERA 3.38 FIP Fisher 3.75 xERA 3.39 FIP

The team was really short on arms in that particular game as I believe all of Hoffman, Varland and Rogers were unavailable. Fisher came in and immediately allowed a walk and a double so it's not necessarily on Nance in the first place for the runs that crossed the plate.

I have little tolerance for the complaining to the media, but if you think that you can only suffer from the flu and it's associated ass draggery for a maximum of 4-5 days you've obviously never actually had the flu before.

Yeah it would be nice if Little could make his way back but I'm not holding my breath. He's still walking far too many batters at this point and it appears as though his command still needs a lot of improvement.

I'm still hoping that Yimi Garcia makes it back this season with his stuff intact as he would be a fine replacement for Varland in the fireman role.

Yeah I recall Louie went through a bit of a rough patch shortly after he came over to the Blue Jays. It's good to see he's been incorporating more of his arsenal as the changeup looks downright filthy this season. He was a key cog in the pen last season in the fireman role and without his nearly daily appearances in leverage spots throughout the game who knows if the team even makes it to the world series.

To be fair Lauer was pitching with the flu for several of his starts and might have had something going on with his neck last time out.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the Statcast box score if you haven't seen it already. Berrios was sitting at 90 MPH in his final inning and surrendered 11 hard hit balls. Hopefully this is more of a 1 off vs an omen of what to expect of him this season.
