  1. As long as MLB is still assigning wins to the pitcher based on when they pitched in the game and the score at the time there isn't any other choice.
  2. I have to give a ton of credit to Kirk tonight as he expertly framed a bunch of pitches outside of the zone to receive extra strikes for Gausman. I thought that the A's hitters were asleep at the switch at times as there were a lot of obvious opportunities for them to challenge throughout the game.
  3. Yeah I like the looks of that lineup a lot. This could be reconfigured a bit for tough lefty starters but would be a good arrangement something like 90% of the time.
  4. I like Okamoto in the number 2 spot but that would leave the top of the lineup extremely right handed and vulnerable to shut down righty relievers, and also have the knockoff effect of making the middle to bottom a little too left handed in nature and vulnerable to lefty shut down relievers. I do think the best case scenario is for one of the lefty bats to eventually seize the second spot in the lineup to create matchup problems for opposition managers.
  5. If he simply continues on a similar path to last season but with better health he's a 4 win player heading into free agency. I agree that a 5+ win season feels like a plausible ceiling as the power is for real, and if the arm strength bounces back a bit he may provide his best ever defensive season as he's peaking athletically in terms of jumps and range. I do expect he's going to be very expensive in free agency and I don't have a feel for whether the front office is going to make a serious push to retain his services.
  6. I don't think Varsho is a great choice for the 2 hole in the order, but I'm cautiously optimistic that a dramatic improvement to his strikeout rate may be incoming. He struck out in only 4 of his 50 spring training plate appearances which is good for a 7.4% strikeout rate. He obviously won't keep that up against regular season quality pitching but I think it's one of the many signs that point towards a potential monster season at the plate for Varsho.
  7. In a perfect world Vlad would be over his phobia of hitting second as he's the prototypical modern number 2 hitter who is inserted into the number 3 spot in the order.
  8. I don't think that a player with Varsho's power should be laying down bunts except against the occasional tough lefty starter if he's in the starting lineup.
  9. There's like a 90% chance that Jimenez would be on the injured list when the Blue Jays require his services anyway.
  10. Who peed in your cornflakes this morning?
  11. I think Kasevich is first in line in the depth chart and he largely made Jimenez expendable. I think there's a good chance that Jimenez sneaks through waivers as well.
  12. If Berrios has put the elbow issue behind him he could end up being an important rotation arm as well. Who knows how the stress fracture is going to affect him though.
  13. Yeah that's high for sure but the bottom line for me is that I think Springer's 2023/2024 issues are fixed and are going to stay in the past. He's at the point where injury concerns could absolutely speed up his decline however although he's shown the ability to continue to produce despite being held together by duct tape at times.
  14. I think 120 wRC+ is the minimum we should be expecting out of George.
  15. The 0.6 K/BB ratio isn't the best though. 🤢
  16. While Varsho isn't a true burner I believe he benefits from elite burst/acceleration and that's part of what allows him to obtain the types of jumps he produces in the outfield. I do expect once the wheels start to drop off a bit he'd likely provide well above average range in a corner but the arm isn't likely suitable to right field post surgery and he would be limited to left field only.
  17. I don't think the Blue Jays "made" Yamamoto look like god, he brought god mode stuff+command into the world series.
  18. I don't think it's crazy. The only way that a $150 million deal for Varsho becomes remotely possible is if he produces a crazy 5/6 etc. win season in his platform year, and that's a player I'd like to keep around long term if possible. His defense is obviously going to drop off at some point during the contract but he's at such a high level that it's not going to completely evaporate overnight barring some sort of catastrophic injury.
  19. I'd have no issue with a contract in that range.
  20. I'm not so sure about that as Josh Kasevich is pushing hard for a job himself.
  21. This guy was a perfect candidate for the ignore list.
  22. Josh Kasevich has been having himself a very nice spring on both sides of the ball.
  23. That Stark article ripped the still healing wounds wide open all over again. 🙁
