  1. It was interesting to read back through MLBTR's predictions for that free agent class. They had Rendon ranked #2 (behind Gerrit Cole) and were pretty damn close on their projected contract at 7/235 - but they predicted Rendon would stay with the Nationals and had the Angels landing Cole... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/11/mlb-free-agent-predictions-2020.html
  2. Barger career high EV (in the MLB) was 116.5..... absolutely insane for this kid to be hitting the ball that hard at his age, against any level of pitching.
  3. Just noticed these this morning, have been forgetting to check this section. But looks like I'm just in time to catch up before the Jays list drops today, thanks for posting these @Spanky__99
  4. I do think acquiring Marte would very likely negate the need to bring back Bo, and we could then use Bo's allotted salary elsewhere. Unless one of them is moving to 3B I guess. However, at this point I also don't believe that checking in on Marte would necessarily mean that we are sure Bo is gone. The Bo situation could still conceivably be very much up in the air and they are merely exploring all opportunities to add high end talent
  5. Sure the tarring can be rough but look on the bright side, being feathered brings you that much closer to feeling like a blue jay
  6. Had some initial interest in Gray when I read him mentioned among other top trade candidates, but less so after I checked his savant page. FB velocity is waning and his barrel/hard hit percentages are concerning. He might get rocked in the AL East this year https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/sonny-gray-543243
  7. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/munetaka-murakami-landing-spots-mlb-free-agency-npb/ They list us as the fourth most likely landing spot for Murakami, for whatever it's worth
  8. I was just looking at Luis Severino, I wonder if that makes some sense for both sides. Same age, very similar projections to Berrios but slightly better, only costs 2M more this season. The kicker for us would be the lesser commitment. Both can opt out after 2026 but Berrios ($48M/2) would be walking away from much more than Severino (1 year $22M) and seems far less likely to do so. From our end I think we stand a good chance of getting the better starter in 2026 but also of having the payroll flexibility a year sooner. From the A's perspective, Severino publicly stated his dissatisfaction with their home park situation. They signed him to fill a particular innings eater role and likely will have trouble adding any good arms in FA to replace him, especially in this market. A straight up swap for another veteran SP seems to make some sense.
  9. MLBTR posted an article indicating that teams were showing interest in converting Helsley to starting. Part of their explanation was that the starting pitching market is weak this off season. Immediately made me wonder if that makes a Berrios trade more possible, than it perhaps would have been in a more typical pitching market. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/tigers-among-teams-interested-in-ryan-helsley-as-starting-pitcher.html
  10. Leiter is a reverse split guy - RHP who has one of the top K rates in the league against lefty hitters. Fisher actually has similar reverse splits, but better.
  11. I wasn't joking
  12. Baltimore is calling, he'd be right in the mix for a rotation job
  13. It was probably an astute move to acquire him for someone like Wagner who has such an entirely more narrow path to a big league career.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/top-sleeper-prospects-added-to-40-man-rosters-2025.html Valenzuela mentioned here
  15. The sky was the limit but somehow they stumbled into the basement and got their foot stuck in the sump pump hole.
  16. Meh I think this slow burn is better than hockey where the whole off season happens within nearly a week, and then you have over two months of virtually nothing.
  17. They'll likely sign another back of the rotation type like they did with Sugano last year, but I doubt candidates are lined up at their door right now
  18. Weird move. I can see how Ward's righty bat fits into the middle of the O's lineup (they are a bit lefty heavy) but could they not have found a similar free agent bat without having to deal from their miniscule pool of pitching? Their highest paid player is Tyler O'Neil, signed last year for 49.5M/3. Does this move push him to a bench or short side platoon role (if healthy)?
  19. Defrockery is not allowed here, we use a classic tar and feather system that is tested and true.
  20. Yeah and he must be comfortable with their rehab/training program + coaching staff etc. Long term that can have much more value than chasing the extra few mil now
  21. We could load this pen up CP Diaz or Williams R Iglesias R Hoffman L Newcomb/Ferguson/Coulombe/Thielbar/Romero R Varland L Fluharty R Yariel/Fisher/Nance/Yimi L Lauer
  22. Yeah he was 17th overall in catcher WAR. It had me sort of contemplating whether he'd draw interest this off season. The FA market for catchers is terrible and Heineman is probably at least low end starting catcher caliber if his great defense holds up to a much larger sample - even if the bat completely falls off. Given that there's always a shortage of quality catchers, I would be surprised if we didn't at least have some calls on Heineman. That's not to say he would return enough value to justify moving him. He surely has more value to a team who doesn't have a Kirk (or anything close) but probably not enough to bother creating a void. We do have a very possible future back up in the recently acquired Valenzuela, but it's likely best to give him some MLB time to prove himself defensively before making that call.
  23. One decent trade and we would be up to three
  24. If Ponce doesn't turn out to be legit, that would be the spot to address by the deadline. I also would say there's a non-zero chance of Bieber returning to frontline status.
