  1. Espinal had one season here with nearly 500 PAs, sandwiched between two where he had around 250. It will come down to how the cookie crumbles regarding injuries etc.
  2. KK and IKF give us quality veteran defensive depth. They serve a clear purpose and aren't in any way preventing bigger moves from taking place. Glad they are willing to spend $18M on guys we can actually stand to watch for ~ 300 PAs each and who have clear standout defensive ability, rather than the AAAA/waiver fodder we've endured in the past. At a difference of 4-5M per, gladly will take IKF over Espinal, assuming that's the plan.
  3. Run prevention will continue to be a theme
  4. His physique is more that of the king who paid for the ships they were robbing.
  5. The fact that the Jays were even in the mix, possibly the closest finalist, says a lot about how the org is viewed. A lot of teams never had any hope in hell. Toronto apparently was given more consideration than some historical clubs in major markets. It's obviously disappointing to not land him, but it's at least good to know that we can be a true player on any free agent.
  6. He'll out earn a max NHL contract (8 years x 16.7M) by the end of year two...

*Bolts not Rays, wrong Tampa team. But yeah 8 goals on 29 shots, what the heck happened?

The other rumor circulating is that he engaged in some sort of inappropriate act involving a team staff member.

There's definitely an extra kicking motion there. I can't honestly decide if it looks like he was hell bent on catching a piece on the way by (similar to when guys stick out there leg for a knee on knee hit, except he was airborn), or if it was the common human nature of kicking ones legs in reaction to suddenly have gone airborn. Then is that just the difference between voluntary or involuntary manslaughter? Not my area of expertise by any means

0.35 fights per game this season, up from 0.3 last year Had to be done. Holland should be on the thinnest of ice now as well, but I'm not sure of the strength of his relationship with Katz. They are an unacceptably flawed and disappointingly bad team considering the elite talent they are built around. Holland's failure to acquire any stability in net, is their ultimate undoing. The faith showed in 30 year old career back up Campbell, was simply absurd, as was the frugal choice of rolling with Mike Smith before that. Outside of Dwayne Rolosen standing on his head for that one playoff run, have they really ever had legit goaltending since Cujo? The contract they gave Nurse is an absolute joke, they haven't really gotten much right outside of lottery luck and the odd good signing.
  13. There were some truly terrible games this week. I sat through the Pats game because I had money on it, I can't understand how Belichick just accepts having two QBs who can't throw for s***. They had two RBs putting up strong games, but no threat through the air at all.

Same, kicking myself for that one because I had a feeling the Oilers were about to hit rock bottom. A big shakeup is coming there, likely a coaching change.

Listening to sportscenter and it sounds like teams have already started the process of testing neck protectors. It's a long time coming and unfortunate that they weren't mandatory before this tragedy occured.

They really all should have neck protection. There's been too many close calls before this. I know Tomas Plekanec looked kind of dorky out there, but we'd all get used to it. I know a lot of them are getting into using cut proof socks etc, need to protect this other obvious area of concern.
  20. You spelled wrong right
