Anderson may have only been considering one year deals with teams where he would be the starting SS. Seems like the best path to recapturing the value he lost with his atrocious season at the plate in 2023. Rosario has never played any 3B in the bigs, and graded as a terrible SS defender last year. Hard to say what he'll be moving forward, but we definitely don't need another light hitting 2B type. Based on the purpose for which IKF was signed, neither of those guys was likely an option. If you are specifically looking for the 3B defense and versatility, you are definitely much better off paying IKF than either of those guys.

He's only 34, so likely choosing to hang them up early due to lack of MLB interest, rather than riding the buses in the minors or heading overseas. Hopefully that helps you feel slightly less old
