Meh they are finally showing improvement, currently right in the middle of the league in points % (a far cry from the complete bottom feeder they've been) and goaltending is by far the biggest strength. I'm cool just keeping both unless an actual strong offer for Gibson came along. By the time you eat money to move him and then pay a replacement, may just have made the team worse and for what? One of these goalie starved teams will have to show some desperation
  5. If I'm another pitcher in that second tier (Buehler, Eovaldi, Pivetta, Manaea, Severino, Bieber), I'd look at Kikuchi and Wacha signing for 63M/3 and 51M/3, plus the overall amount of talent available this off season - as a sign to take the bird in hand in terms of accepting the best deal they can get sooner rather than later. If they try to wait out the market, I feel like someone from that list may end up getting squeezed out of the money.
  6. KC had such an underwhelming lineup last year, needed to add and probably still should. They are Witt and Perez regressions away from having f*** all, and had no one other than Witt had notable on base skills like Carlos mentioned. They have their (super random) big two arms in Lugo/Ragans assuming they hold up, backed up by Wacha and some decent depth options (Wright/Bubic etc). This free agent market seems rather flush with SP options, so they could very conceivably go out and add a decent upgrade to the middle or even top of that group, ending up far ahead in aggregate. If you slide another good vet into the top 3, Wacha makes for a solid #4 and you have a quality competition for the last spot. I think that was their mindset here, replace or upgrade the rotation spot in free agency and the bats acquired are found money. I'm guessing it has something to do with the quality of the free agent crop. Teams are looking to dump as much money from the bottom end of the roster as possible because there's an unusual amount of middle to top tier talent available.
  7. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/five-first- round-picks-left-unprotected-ahead-of-2024-rule-5-draft/ The 2020 draft was understandably one of the weirdest and least normal in MLB draft history. The pandemic forced college and high school seasons to shut down early. For some high school teams, their season never even started. We’re still seeing the effects more than four years later. Teams left four of the 11 high school first-round picks from the 2020 draft unprotected ahead of the 2024 Rule 5 Draft. That 64% success rate is well below the typical 73% rate of prep first-rounders being protected from their first eligible Rule 5 draft.

  9. Yeah I have to give props to that women's bout, that was quite a battle. Serrano is a tough cookie for eating those repeated headbutts and continuing with that nasty cut, she was robbed.
  10. I think we'd be looking at high end backup/low end starter money, maybe in the same neighborhood of the IKF contract (15M/2). The only prediction I can find (Kiley McDaniel) has him at 17.5M/2. I'd be fine with a two or three year deal in that price range. Still a pretty affordable way to have a key position completely locked down for multiple years.
  11. Still fairly youngish (30) and has a very solid five year track record of defensive results, which should be probably the biggest consideration for a backup catcher
  12. Carson Kelly for backup catcher
  13. Gotta stay optimistic, right Spank?
  14. Seems like the type of guy that the A's have been sorting out
  15. Sitting on some shares?
  16. Would seemingly indicate that they don't see Baty as their future 3B either
  17. Looks like they have the second fewest goals conceded (7) behind first place Liverpool (6) and no one else has allowed less than ten, pretty impressive.
