    Seems like this thread should be moved over to the minor league section. Anyway, mlb.com posted an article titled "Each team's prospect whose stock improved most in '24" and ours was Jake Bloss. Ranked No. 11 in the Astros system to begin 2024, the 2023 third-rounder out of Georgetown climbed from High-A Asheville all the way to the Majors in his first full season by showcasing three above-average pitches out of the gate. Sure, his breakout came in the Houston organization, but the Blue Jays will get to reap the rewards after acquiring Bloss in a Deadline move for rental arm Yusei Kikuchi.     I wanted a higher end backup catcher but now I'm pretty sure that ship is sailed. Heinemann and Sanchez are both passable enough defensive backups to actually give us decent depth as the 2/3 guys. As long as Kirk is up to taking on a bigger workload, there won't be enough innings to lose too much value at the backup catcher spot. Better to spend on the more pressing needs at this point.

    #57 was also worn by both Gary Carter (1974) and Randy Johnson (1988) for their debut stints with the Expos. In terms of stars with longevity in the number, Johan Santana wore #57 for twelve seasons. I recall watching Doc outduel Santana on Opening Day when both were at their peak. That was 2006, after the Jays huge off season where we acquired Burnett, Glaus, Molina, Overbay and BJ Ryan.

    He's the second most tenured #60 in MLB history, wore it for all 12 years of his career. Dallas Keuchel has just appeared in his 13th season with his brief stint in Milwaukee, and has likewise worn #60 his whole career.
