Got to be the most valuable expiring trade chip this year. JD’s DL stint(s?) and our potential wildcard chase may mean we take our chances in not trading him and trying to resign him.
I’d like to see stats on whether the restrictions have reduced mound visits and by how much. That’s the purpose of it, not to penalise genuine need, but to prevent overuse.
Despite Manny Machado hitting a homer for the 4th game in a row (he’s already got over half of the WAR that he had all of last season) the Orioles are losing again.
How long do they wait until selling? Who is going to give the most for Machado to play SS/3B for the rest of the season?
FWIW I think Buck is fine, Pat is useless though. Would prefer the co commentator to be a younger ex player so the anecdotes aren’t as dated, and there’s more chance of relevant analysis.
If we managed to get a wildcard, Tulo could be a good roster addition for the playoffs.
Travis will also hopefully turn it around soon, and go on a hot streak.
But yeah, much more promising than last year.
By the time it matters, the rules for service time might have changed anyway after the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in 2022.
That said, I think it'd be too early to call him up now. September? Maybe. Next year - starting 3B assuming JD leaves.
The concerning thing is that previous slow starts were blamed on limited spring training because of injuries.
But yeah, when he's on, he's one of our most consistent hitters.
Gurriel has 6 years left on his contract- if he sticks he's going to be here forever.
If he can play 2B and SS it's great, if he can play some outfield as well then even better.
