  2. Thank you for not quoting him.
  3. Homeruns yo. Where's the guy that was trying to argue that Joe Carter having a -2 WAR season didn't matter because of rbi totals? He'd be happy with Bruce.
  4. FTFY It's the baseball equivalent of Championship Manager, a glorified spreadsheet as many refer to management sims. That genre is truly addictive, though I've never played OOTP Baseball.
  5. Doesn't say anything we didn't already know.
  6. $80m wasn't enough for him to sign, if he thinks he should get Cespedes money he could ask for 5 years at a lower AAV than Cespedes got. Though that doesn't mean a team will meet his demands of course.
  7. I'd think it's his agent trying to get an extra $5m AAV or a 5th year from an interested team. But you never know. Would be ironic if they came back to the Jays to negotiate now - after the Morales signing I'm not even sure we'd be offering $80m any more.
  8. The front office believe Bruce does though or they wouldn't have been chasing him for a year.
  9. OK so I thought some of the trade suggestions on the BJMB were a bit of a stretch. And then I saw the top thread on the Orioles Hangout: Trade idea - go big or go home Orioles's Get: Eaton, Frazier, and Sale White Sox Get: Machado, Bundy (or Gausman), and Mancini
  10. If he accepts a relatively low cost deal, sure why not. He'll need to prove he still has it, so could be open to a 1 year deal at <$2m.
  11. Kris Bryant the one that got away No "meaningful negotiations" or offer made, according to Bryant, as Jays had spent a lot on early round picks
  12. Whether anyone thinks this thread is funny, relevant, annoying, or should be deleted, one thing's for sure - it should be in the off topic forum, has f all to do with baseball.
  13. Even though Pompey didn't have a great 2015 at Triple A, I think he could be at least a reasonable MLB player in the right situation. Unfortunately that situation is probably not with the Jays.
  14. When he started 2015 as first choice CF he ended up being dropped down to Triple A then double A, because he wasn't ready mentally. Pompey gets another chance As a direct result Gibby doesn't trust him. For both 2015 and 2016 Pompey was a September call up and was used almost exclusively as a pinch runner, even being pinch hit for a few times instead of letting him take an at bat. Unless there's injuries, or Pompey shows amazing form for Buffalo, it's pointless having him on the 25 man. I've no doubt Gibby would play Barney in the OF above Pompey.
  15. Yes please, Blevins then one of Feliz or Holland would be ideal.
  16. Exactly. It would be Bolsinger, hence why Liriano and Biagini should at least begin the season as starters. If we completely fail to get a reliable reliever we could keep Biagini in the bullpen, and try to use him as a longman, to try to up his innings. But if they want him to start next year he should really be starting at AAA this year.
  17. Haha yes, plus that at 1B, age and mobility are nowhere near as important as other positions.
  18. He's not saying he thinks Morales will be good though, just that he could be adequate enough that he doesn't need to be dropped if he's not DH'ing.
  19. The problem with rule 5 claims is that they have to stay on the roster all year, or you have to offer them back to the original team. If they have a bad stretch you can't send them to AAA. What makes either better than Matt Dermody (for example) who can be called up when required.
  20. I think he's coming from the angle of if Morales is a DH only, Smoak is playing far too many games at 1B, and the DH is tied up when we want to rest Tulo et al. Sure Morales will suck at 1B, but then a lot of 1B players do. If they were better fielders, or more athletic, they'd normally be in another position.
  21. You've got a good point - we all thought EE's days at 1B were over and he did OK last season. We could see Morales playing around 50 games at 1B allowing Tulo, Martin etc rest days from the field. Unless we sign another 1B to make Smoak the back up of course (fingers crossed!).
  22. With the money we've saved so far I'd love to sign Chapman, but can't imagine the front office going in for that kind of luxury signing (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). So Logan, Blevins, Feliz or Holland please.
  23. If Biagini and Liriano were in the bullpen I'd be happy with the bullpen, but then we'd have zero SP depth. So I think we need at least one decent, reliable bullpen arm, plus another couple of typical waiver claim players, or failed starter free agents.
  24. Locks for the bullpen: Osuna Grilli Barnes Loup Rotating the remaining places between: Schultz Girodo Tepera Dermody Bolsinger Campos If starting doesn't work out add: Biagini Liriano
  25. Plus Jon Jay isn't very good and Ian Desmond is much better as an infielder.
