    That was bad. Coghlan looked right at the ball after it bounced out of his glove, and then he looks up in the air - where did he think the ball had gone??

    MLB must be concerned about Oakland (and Tampa): bad stadiums, and history of pathetic attendances.

    I know there aren't many fans in the stadium, but the announcer and sound effects really do sound echoey and very weird. Terrible atmosphere.

    I was using the term 4th OF to indicate he shouldn't be starting the majority of games, but yeah with the 25 man roster restriction, every member of the team has a relatively important role to play. Yeah I agree.

    Like most I'd like to see Pompey given a chance, but we have already seen that he can be worse than Carrera - the last chance he got he was so bad he ended up in double A. Pearce was given a chance this season and he was so bad he ended up literally crying on the bench. That doesn't mean that no one else (or those two) shouldn't be given more chances, but it does mean that (short of a trade or signing) we have no "guaranteed" improvement in house.

    As a 4th outfielder, Carrera isn't that bad, especially considering what he is paid. Short of paying for a (close to) guaranteed upgrade I've no issue with keeping him as a 4th outfielder until one or more of our prospects takes his place. To get someone who's likely to be better, we'd have to pay a lot more than what Carrera is paid. Just look at what Reddick got from the Astros - 4 years $52m projected for 1.5 WAR, if everything goes right he might give you up to 3 WAR. Solid but hardly a star. The main issue is that he plays too often when we suffer from injuries, like this season.

    That was a big win today. Even if we don't have a great chance of winning the division, a wildcard is very much in play. There's still a long way to go of course.

    Astros are a strong potential buyer for a rental starter at the deadline (including Estrada / Liriano).

    Big game today, chance to get back to .500, show the Yankees that the AL East isn't over yet, and for Biagini to continue to cement his place in the 2018 rotation.
