  1. The mini series with the Rays will be interesting. Not only a chance to catch them, but a chance to reach .500 and move off the bottom of the AL East - both for the first time this season.
  2. Since King's absence he's also stopped updating the board's Twitter feed. TL - since you're a social media user with Reddit maybe you could ask the mods to let you manage the account?
  3. Angel Pagan decided to take a year out because no one would give him a starting role, and to spend time with his family. He's likely retired.
  4. Is that panicking from Gibbons to bring in Osuna now? I guess it's an offday tomorrow, but still.
  5. Cleveland will surely win the AL Central. I think the Red Sox will get a wildcard (if they don't catch the Yankees) but the second wildcard is wide open.
  6. Wow didn't realise we had got that close to them. We're miles off the division lead but right in the thick of the wildcard battle.
  7. Meanwhile Pearce is 0 for 6 in his 2 rehab starts for New Hampshire, but at least he played LF in the second one.
  8. Pretty surprised Bolsinger got through waivers a second time, but it's always good to have depth at AAA.
  9. Haha, true. Apart from fans and the media, imagine the reaction from the players with him joining a MLB clubhouse where half the players have young kids.
  10. Oh yeah there's lots of issues. For example there's instances of people registered as sex offenders for relatively minor crimes who will be treated the same as a more serious offender.
  11. Exactly, he can still live a happy, productive live and contribute to society. He just can't ever be a teacher, social worker etc and I'd argue he shouldn't be in professional sports either.
  12. It's a common misconception that the initial sentence is the only punishment for offences. A criminal record negatively effects your life and career. Certain crimes (sex offences, serious felonies) effect it more than others. It doesn't condem you to a terrible life, but it can prevent you from doing whatever you want.
  13. The 6 year old was old enough to know it was wrong, that's why she reported it.
  14. You're right age is a factor, and that's why he's not in prison. In this particular circumstance the abuse took place over a 2 year period, the age and relationship of the victim, and the fact that the abuse was only stopped by the victim reporting it are all reasons why IMO it's correct that he's still a registered sex offender.
  15. No not quite, certain jobs would be excluded, and as I said above I'd argue professional sports (high profile / followed closely by kids) should be excluded too.
  16. Gotcha, there are plenty of programs available to help rehabilitate criminals. It sounds like this guy has gone through one and hopefully it's helped him and he won't reoffend (ditto Matt Bush).
  17. The reason he's not in prison is because he was only 15 when the abuse was stopped. However, what he did was so abhorrent that there will be consequences for the rest of his life. One of those will be registering as a sex offender which in turn will exclude certain jobs. I'd argue that those jobs should include professional sports.
  18. No, and you can make a good argument that what he did should have prevented him from a career in baseball.
  19. Matt Bush has a criminal record for DUI and alcohol related crimes, not for being a paedophile.
  20. With a criminal record and as a registered sex offender he wouldn't be allowed to have a normal office job, so why should he be able to have a job as a professional baseball player?
  21. Price will no longer be answering personal questions, will only talk to the media on days he pitches, and feels the Boston media have been overly harsh. I don't really know what he was expecting - he hasn't yet been as good as anticipated, he's on a very expensive contract, and Boston is a major market where scrutiny is always going to be high for sports stars.
  22. Haha, yeah you're probably right.
  23. Danny Barnes has been everything a lot of us were saying he could be when he was called up last year.
  24. Gibbons said last week he'd be 2/3 weeks at least. Prob won't be fully back until next month.
