  1. Lets go with Sosa tonight.
  2. You can move Hoffman to 8th or do it based on match ups. Might be a situation where you want Rogers to come in and get a ground ball. Or you want Hoffman to come in get a strikeout. When you need to finish a game and you have Varland you use him. There will be some nights the real save situation comes earlier. It doesn’t have to be perfect handoff I think its better when the situation in more fluid based on matchups.
  3. It’s not even just that play thats the problem point. Its how many times he’s been out of position to receive throws. Countless times runners have taken 3B and he can’t even get to the bag to get a tag down. Even Dan Shulman has pointed it out. He’s not a good Third Baseman. Plain and simple. Lets hope he actually starts hitting soon to compensate.
  4. If Ernie is playing Third Base we get that out easily.
  5. Watch it again. Varland looked at third and Oakamoto wasn’t anywhere near the bag and the runner was only half way to third. Had Oakamoto been in position that was an easy put out.
  6. And you would do damn well to remember that. Its not hopeless but he needs a lot of work at Third. So many times already he’s been late arriving on tag plays at the bag. Varland had an easy out at Third Base in the 10th but he couldn’t throw the ball because Oakamoto didn’t run to the bag.. it’s the little things that add up to big things.
  7. I'm not saying he's not unlucky. But his command was s*** tonight. And you gotta find a way to close a game without your best stuff sometimes. It just way to often with him. Way to often.
  8. When your Closer you can't let the situation snow ball on you every night.
  9. I pointed it out earlier but its very rare that Varland is even available behind Hoffman because hes deployed to put out fires in the 6th and 7th and sometimes earlier. Its clear Rogers is the 8th inning guy. Schneider could have and should have went to Varland earlier in the 9th when it was clear Hoffman didn't have it tonight.
  10. His Defense has been extremely bad. And his positioning is really the main issue. If they can address the fact that he doesn't know where to go when the ball is hit in play that would be an excellent start to getting him to a passable at that position. Imai start to his career has been disappointing to say the least. But I don't think A he's healthy. And B he is in a good state of mind.
  11. They seem to really love Varland in a fireman role where they can deploy him in all the problem spots in game. But that can't be the reason he's not the Closer over Hoffman. And quite frankly I think its the only reason why Hoffman kept the 9th going in the Season.
  12. Well were stuck because Vlad is our First Baseman. And that's kinda what the signing was always not a perfect fit if 3B didn't work out for him. Obviously they won't throw in the towel this early. But they might want to consider replacing him defensively late in games. He needs to work on basic fundamentals. Where to run on contact. Get to the bag on throwing situations. What balls to go after when you have a Gold Glove SS standing next to you.
  13. I'm not ready to go that far but I watch a lot of Japanese baseball and people I follow said he will make the plays hit at him but don't expect anything else. I didn't expect him to have no instincts or feel for the position. They did say 1B was his preferred position.
  14. Take the victory. But Okamoto can't be a Third Base tomorrow. He's not a Third Basemen.
  15. He can't even read where he is suppose to run on contact. He's so bad.
  16. THIRD Base is the absolute moon to Oakamoto. No business playing that position at the Major League Level.
  17. OK Varland did not go to first base because of the score. He went to first because Oakmoto didn't get to the f***ing bag! Cost the Jays another run.
  18. Oakmoto agian terrible fielding position. Not being anywhere near the bag on contact.
  19. If you're going to steal third in that situation you kinda need to be 100 percent sure you get it. Your already in scoring position.
  20. Kinda shocked that got overturned. Almost no consistency from New York at all lol
  21. Its rare to get Straw on the bases so its nice to see him be aggressive.
  22. A lot of people cost the Jays a World Series. There was 5 AB's where a fly ball or ground ball from Varsho that would have clinched the World Series.
