Apparently the Cubs are picking up the full remainder Gausman's contract. They probably could have gotten more in a return. But are seemingly going to try to prioritize reducing the tax bill at this point. Jays are 23 million over the 40 million target point where you lose 10 slots in the draft. I doubt they will be able to get under that. But shedding Gausman's remaining 7 million helps.

If he handles the bat and is solid in CF. Sounds like have atleast a decent platoon option in CF for next Season in Bateman. Now to address power in LF, RF, DH. Hope the Monstars return Vladdy’s talent.

I mean yes that’s true but you kind of have to operate under the assumption you will be preparing to field a good club for next year. Baseball losing momentum now is so bad for the sport because it has seen a pretty good jump in ratings in general. Despite the Dodgers dominance attendance and ratings are up across the league. I don’t think a lot of fans will care if we lose April and May. It’s when we get into June is when it’s going to really hit hard.

I feel a lot of these prospect packages have been extremely underwhelming. Garcia Jr. still has another full Season of control. Maybe the Jays should be buying. Maybe not for this year but for beyond.

Baseball is a very weird game year to year. Just look at Ty France. That guy went from no Slug at all for years to sporting a near .900 OPS in San Diego one the toughest places to Slug in Baseball. All his teammates are having down years and he's having the best power Season of his career. Just goes to show you adjustments can be made. -
Atkins should be fired for absorbing the Gimeinez contract alone. Dude gets an 8 million dollar raise next Season. For the next 3 Seasons. Freaking painful bro. Can't even get started about Vlad's deal. My goodness gracious.

It's going to really suck seeing George Springer in a Red Sox uniform next week. But that trade is pretty much done if the Blue Jays want to make it. He has full control of his destination.

Really good start for Max. I don't think he will be traded because I doubt he wants to relocate his family at this point in the Season. But if he can finish his career strong that would be cool.

Salary cap is a good idea as long as high salary floor exists as well. Forcing those penny pitchers to actually compete would be the best thing for Baseball.

You can't really blame the Dodgers for going to get Skubal. Baseball is so weak right now. And they have tons of good prospects. This move barely hurts them and puts them in a prime position to 3 peat. It would be hard to see any team currently that could beat them.
