  1. Salary cap only punishes the players not the owners.
  2. He did the most boring thing he could do and that’s what makes me sad. But at the same time I can’t really blame him. It’s not good for Baseball. But at the same time what can they really do about it.
  3. So what international free agents did the Dodgers have lined up.
  4. If acquiring Straw helps net you Roki you take the L on the money all day and never think twice. You don’t even have to roster him. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do in order to land your big fish. Plenty of holes to fill. But almost nobody on the free agent market can impact the top of your rotation like Roki can.
  5. Yea I don’t think you make this move unless you feel pretty confident. I think the Jays can still acquire a little over 1.4M more which means they could offer him over 10M. Wonder if they will try to max out their additional cap and ofcourse take away options from the Dodgers and Padres.
  6. He wants his own spotlight. He goes to the Dodgers he's Shohei's Ohtani's Japanese teammate. He goes to San Diego or Toronto he is the guy in those markets the Japanese media focuses on. I am thinking he signs with the Padres for a variety of reasons including the time zone, the weather, and the overall fit. It will be interesting to see what intrigues him so much about the Blue Jays. I guess the idea of him being a star on the only team in Canada has it's own allure to certain personalities.
  7. I think you wait him out. He doesn't really have any other major suitors and you don't want to be anywhere near 5 years with him. 2 or 3 with a higher AAV should get it done.
  8. Honestly a little disappointed by this. If he was going to pitch another Season I would prefer he finished his career in Detroit. Giants aren’t going anywhere so maybe he can join them at the Deadline. AL Central is so wide open especially with Cleveland blowing it up. Aka not wanting to pay anybody per usual. Probably between the Tigers and Royals,
  9. It would be nice if one of these star Japanese free agents did something interesting for once instead of just going to LA or a big US market. But certainly not holding my breathe. They should be trying very hard to sign him though.
  10. Spanky is actually making a good point he just communicates it in his own weird way. It doesn't matter where we go on the internet we always have to ignore baseless for clicks rumours. So I don't see why it would be any different here. Just choose the topics you wish to engage in and ignore the others. I personally don't believe anything that isn't originally posted by Jeff Passan or confirmed by Jeff Passan. .
  11. Alright looks like you figured it out. Thank you!
  12. I emailed directly but haven’t heard a new response in a couple of days. None of my emails log me into my Jonn account. And when I go to register it says the username Jonn is already taken. So it exists here I just don’t know how to access it.
  13. I don’t think it matters. They didn’t sign him. It was pretty evident he wanted to be in Arizona. Playing what it games gets us nowhere.
  14. No I’m saying they are stupid for not building a strong foundation to attract free agents with the resources they have.
  15. Absolutely not. Never want to see him try to hit a Baseball again unless it’s for another team. Besides why would he sign back here considering he was salary dumped onto the Rockies. He can’t think favourly of that situation.
  16. You would think Atkins would realize at this point that it isn’t just about money. No player wants to lock into 5+ years when none of the core is signed long term. Trapping themselves into mediocrity isn’t the goal when the money is similar.
  17. Honestly there was a point where giving Vlad the kind of money being discussed would have been a ludicrous situation. We were thinking that in May before he exploded and had a monster rest of the Season. Now the Jays have too pay him. It really is a moot point though… I don’t think Vlad was ever going to sign an extension early. Especially when he wasn’t performing anything like he did in 2021. They really are in a position now that they either have to sign him for more than they ever wanted or trade him. They either overpay him or lose him for nothing otherwise. Which one is better it’s hard to tell unless they actually plan on putting a team around him.
  18. My main issue with Atkins is he doesn’t commit to a direction. Back to back off seasons is willing to commit to the biggest contract in the history of Baseball. But it hasn’t happened and he seemingly has no pivot. Did he expect to sign Ohtani or Soto and just expect everything to fall in place? Team has a variety of holes and it makes it seem like we’re in a state of limbo opposed to actually fielding a competitive team. The AL is pretty weak in general and it’s possible with a couple of strong additions the team could be in the wild card situation with good health. But it’s hard to imagine this team actually winning anything significant. Is sneaking in the backdoor of a wild card spot and playing 1 game really the best we could hope for? Because that’s all this core has shown. I don’t even think Ohtani or Soto alone could fix that. Does one of the make another star come along. That’s how it might work in Basketball but doesn’t really work in Baseball.
  19. Kind of embarrassing to read that Corbin Burnes just won't take the Blue Jays money despite giving him exactly what he wants. But is willing to take a smaller term contract to get one of his desired destinations more interested. Please tell me they moved on as soon as they knew about that lol.
  20. I don't know why anyone would want to be in San Francisco right now considering how much of a s*** hole its turned into since they decriminalized a lot of drugs. Like it's so bad. I love the Bay Area its so sad to see what happened to it.
  21. Kim can actually hit and get on base. Not a fan of the comparison.
  22. Yup straight salary dump for Cleveland. And they picked up a decent bat with cheap control for their troubles. No idea where he plays with Naylor there but they hate spending money so this makes sense.
  23. I hate Rogers as much as anyone. But they have shown a lot of willingness to spend money. They just don't really make good decisions with the funs and thats why the Jays are 200 million payroll team with a s*** roster. The least of the Jays concerns is Rogers. As terrible of a company they are to consumers. Bell isn't much better though.
  24. I would imagine Wagner will DH a lot. Probably spell Vladdy at 1B. Upgrading the Outfield has become paramount. Don’t think you can view Springer as an everyday player at this point.
