Santander got delayed due to Visa issues. It’s not really shocking he’s starting slow. Still plenty of time for these guys to get at-bats and ready for the Season.

Well doesn’t look like Varsho’s power got impacted lol, 2 games and 2 homeruns, Lets hope he is cleared to throw soon.

The fact that David Robertson is still available is crazy to me. I can’t imagine him holding out for a multi year deal at 39. Jays should be all over that. Still posting an elite K rate. I don’t see at-bats for JDM. He’s s full time DH. Basically forces Vlad and Santander into the field full time. And takes at-bats away from guys like Wagner.

He’s been basically a 5 Win player twice now. I don’t even think he’s been the best offensive version of himself with the Jays. 4 wins with almost his Defense alone might be his floor. As for the fire into the sun comment. That really was an emotional reaction to some bad at-bat. I did say it though so I will own it. With that being said I obviously want Daulton Varsho to be healthy and the best version of himself. I will also admit I tend to get attached to our prospects at times. Gabriel Moreno was tough to part with even with the concerns he would never hit for power. I think looking back 2 years both teams benefited from trading from a position of strength at the time. Crazy how the Jays went from basically having 3 Starting calibre catchers to now its Kirk and not much else on the horizon. Kirk is very important to this team and until framing is ultimately eliminated by robo umps it’s invaluable to steal as many strikes as he does. Plus I think we all believe there is way more with the bat. Seems like his Power is returning this Spring. Looks in better shape as well.

I understand the concern and only time will tell how the injury will impact him long term. My brother and I were talking about this the other day. Even without throwing he’s still a phenomenal route runner and gets elite jumps on the Baseball when it’s hit. Whether hes 100 percent or not he’s still a massive asset in CF. And I doubt they would be letting him play in games at this point of Spring if there were any concerns of a set back. His 20-25 Homerun is important to this lineup as well, And ofcourse he doesnt get on base a lot but hes an excellent base runner when he does.

I didn’t even think Varsho had a chance to be healthy for Opening Day. The fact that he’s going to get in game at-bats already bolds well in his recovery, Obviously getting him back in CF is the priority.

Would love to see Wagner settle into that leadoff spot against righties. Feel he’s the best fit in that slot. Wouldn’t mind seeing it set up Wagner, Vladdy, Santander, Bo, ect. But it seems Bo prefers the top of the lineup and Vlad prefers to hit third.

Will be interesting to see where he fits into the future plans with a lot of DH at-bats already accounted for now and in the future. Second Base is also clogged now so he’s going to have to play 3B on this roster. Perhaps getting reps at 1B is something he will start this year. Prepare for life after Vladdy.

No its not simple. It’s actually very hard to deal with individuals with evaluations that don’t match up to yours. It’s not easy when you have to make choices that project the direction of your franchise. And none of them should be made lightly. But at some point you have to make tough decisions so you don’t put your organization in a position that’s tough to recover from. These negotiations according to Vladdy have never been close. So were they expecting him to cave to their demands and sign a team friendly contract that close to free agency? It’s fine if they didn’t want to give him what he wanted. I respect that. I don’t like that they are doing that but not making the best decision for the future of the franchise. Is making the playoffs this year more valuable than losing Vladdy for nothing. That’s what they are risking ultimately. As someone who is a fan of the team I can only sit back and watch on how things unfold. But I can certainly have an opinion on it. I would like to see Vladdy retained but not at the number that has been floating around. It will be interesting to see what kind of year he has. And what his market will actually be like.

Good for him. Bad second half last year but didn’t think he was ready to retire. If we didn’t have so many 4th OF types already he would have been a nice fit against lefties.
