  1. With Shapiro at the helm there's a good chance that Osuna, at least, starts. Sanchez could very well be traded unless Shapiro has a plan to try and fix him.
  2. Crazy lol. If Atkins ends up being our new GM, it will change real quick (he's huge into analytics from what I've read).
  3. Hopefully it's the start of a full and productive analytics department.
  4. I read Joe Sheehan is now the director of analytics, is this a good thing lol?
  5. Totally and he's only 26. I would imagine his HR total would go up just from playing in the AL East anyways, without even sacrificing his great K/BB ratios.
  6. If we sign a player, I'd much rather it be someone like Heyward or Zobrist than Chris "go big or go home" Davis.
  7. I would much rather sign a lefty line-drive machine than a power bat.
  8. Great news, 2/2 so far Shapiro.
  9. He's just messing with you man, or perhaps he'd like to increase his team's chance at winning a game over us from 5% to 8%.
  10. Maybe. I'd try and reach out to Cliff Lee, and then sign Hill. I'm curious if Lackey will be offered one since he's only expected to get a 2-yr deal as FA? Hopefully someone will make a list tomorrow of all the FA's that cause us to lose our pick. Here's a question, would we lose just the Estrada comp pick if we'd QO him, or do we our own 1st Rd pick regardless if we sign a qualified FA?
  11. Only if he's not offered a QO, I don't think Shapiro signs anyone who could lose him a pick, unless its someone like Heyward.
  12. Meh, work him in the same way the Indians did for Carrasco in 2014. Give him 14 starts and 130 innings in 2016, and then give him 30 starts and 180 innings in 2017. I'd give Hendriks/Hutch the other 14 starts in 2016.
  13. I guess it depends on how other gms would value Sanchez. I think any high end value could only be had as a starter if he gets completely re-tooled with better secondary pitches, but we'll see if that happens. Fair enough, I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Here's a proposal then, would Bautista/Pillar/Greene be enough to land Carrasco?
  14. Well he's suggesting we move Revere, so that free up $6.5m. That means we' have about $38m to spend for 2016. It's certainly possible depending on who you look to sign.
  15. Thanks for the help on that. That makes sense, it would suck to give up Alford though. I figured it would. I think Preller would overvalue Sanchez like AA did as well.
  16. f*** that, don't want to lose a pick over him. If we lose it over Heyward, then maybe I'd reconsider signing Kennedy.
  17. Thanks man, I appreciate that, I'm definitely willing to learn. I've always been a stats guy, so I find all of this very intriguing. I used to place a lot of stock into AVG, for example, but now I look at BABIP before buying into it, and I value OBP a lot more.
  18. I'm new here, but not new to baseball to be truthful. I am new to sabermetrics and DIPS but I did read the beginners thread here.
  19. What do you think that would cost?
  20. That could be possible, but it could work both ways, hopefully. If he overvalued Kemp maybe he overvalues Sanchez/Revere based on ERA/AVG lol.
  21. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XH6CpyAftJo/Un_1FQA0keI/AAAAAAAAD5A/KMhQLX-lR8c/s1600/bht3.gif
  22. This sounds ideal, maybe use him in a package for Ross? GD has Ross valued around $20m so it shouldn't be too pricey, if that's accurate.
  23. That sounds acceptable, but what happens if Cecil is inconsistent again in that role? I suppose Hendriks could work (great FIP and K/9 this year)? I'd rather Sanchez go to AAA with some of Shapiro's development coaches to try and fix his command, and attempt the near impossible task of making him more saber friendly.
  24. I would rather do that but I don't want Osuna wasting another year of development as the closer, and I don't trust Sanchez (and his 1 controllable pitch) as our closer.
  25. Teaming them up is probably for the best. That said, it would mean Estrada would cost $16 in 2016 and 2017 for him to be effective (if you believe the tandem is legit that is).
