  1. Quality post. I couldn't agree more with everything you said. If money wasn't an issue, and all else was equal, I would sign Lowe, Bastardo, and Blanton. I would also inquire about Carter Capps and see what he would cost (he could be an excellent cheap closer). Bastardo and Blanton are consistent as they get so the risk for volatility should be low with them. Capps would be a risky bet, as would Lowe (given his track record), but either/both would be good to bet on. Throwing Osuna and Sanchez in AAA just makes so much sense to me. f*** the "win now mode" mentality, I think the suggestions you/I have would be suitable replacements until September when they get called back up and put in the BP. I'd just like to see Osuna/Sanchez get an opportunity to work around 130 innings each this year, so, in 2017, they can step in the rotation in place of Chavez/Dickey.
  2. Maybe I should have said, I'm not one who has ever complained about it on here before. That said, there's nothing incorrect about my post, and I'm sure many would agree, based on some of the opinions expressed often on here.
  3. I'm not one who complains about the moderating, other than the ridiculous thread merging that prevents great articles/reports from being noticed, hindering great conversation on said posts, and overall making the forum a tad boring compared to other forums around. Other than that, though, I appreciate the strong pimp hand against trolls.
  4. Hey, it's a million times better discussing that signing on here than on Sportsnet or Social Media, where "WINS", "ERA", a league changes are the heralded opinions.
  5. I think that's why Happ cost 36M.
  6. If some of that Pittsburgh advice sticks with him, then I love this, if he regresses to the mean, I'm meh on it. Overall it's a good move.
  7. That's excellent, hopefully some of that coaching sticks with him going forward.
  8. This is my issue with it. Is JA Happ worth $12M AAV?
  9. The question would be "who projects to age better as a hitter?" since both guys will probably end up a DH for 2-3 years of that contract. Personally, I feel Edwin projects to age more like Big Papi, is younger than JB, and would probably be cheaper, so I'd probably sign him and collect the pick when JB leaves.
  10. Age would be the big factor there.
  11. 32 WRC+? Holy s*** my eyes!! That's putrid.
  12. s*****. I guess he still has some time. He'll be 22 in AA next season but still has yet to show any of that power potential. Jake Anderson flopped hard. Wow Gonzalez flopped in the Gulf LOL.
  13. Thank God the 3 pages of pizza discussion came to end.. I like pizza as much as the next person, but geez, overkill much. That projected 2016 was from 2010/2011 I'm guessing? Whatever happened to Christian Lopes? I remember people being real high on that pick. I'm guessing he's a huge bust?
  14. I'm not that surprised, he's always struck me as an impulsive, immature, douche.
  15. I think management is placing a lot of weight, right or wrong, on the intangibles Chavez brings as both a teammate and a "pitching coach". It was focused on, primarily, in this podcast. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/at-the-letters-chavez-almost-a-second-pitching-coach/
  16. I'd only be upset if it meant that we'd be maxed out in our payroll budget for 2016. If Rogers were to increase the budget to, say, 160M (we're at 118M now I think?), I'd be fine with it. This way we could still spend on the bullpen. If our payroll is actually 140M, though, and we have to clear Revere just to squeeze Price into the budget, and will have to scrape together the BP again, I'd be totally against this.
  17. If we sign Price, the payroll will have to go up significantly. That said, if all else is equal, some more BP help and that rotation, could allow us to have Hutch and hopefully Osuna/Sanchez start in AAA.
  18. Well, if the rumors are true, NYY, LAD, and us are looking to trade an everyday outfielder to Cleveland for one of their pitchers. If said pitcher happens to be Carrasco and, somehow, it only costs Pillar++, that might be how it happens.
  19. If Oakland tosses Hendriks into the rotation and he pulls a Carrasco and proves that the velocity uptick is sustainable as a starter, I'm going to puke..
  20. Did he actually say that? Man, LaCava is really starting to look awful lately.
  21. Not sure how I feel about this, Chavez has excellent peripherals and a good K/9, but Hendriks was outstanding this year (8th in the MLB for relievers with a 2.14 FIP) and his velocity bump was significant enough that it could have been a mechanical/development change, and would be worth looking at in the rotation.
  22. They implied Carrasco is a middle of the pack starter. I'm guessing they were looking at his ERA and W/L record. They're the worst type, hockey fans pretending to understand baseball.
  23. Man, Brady and Walker are so stupid. They just said Carrasco is an Estrada level pitcher lol.
  24. Of course. I'm just baffled that he'd vote for Trout then convincingly argue for Donaldson a few days later LOL. I remember him saying, "Donaldson crushed Trout in WPA which shows that he was more crucial to his team's success" and then it comes out that he didn't trust his own logic?
  25. Good guy. This only adds to his awesome-factor, but his commentary and knowledge already has him on an unreachable status.
