  1. Definitely. He doesn't need generous BABIP luck with that OBP, walk rate, and speed. .400 OBP (from AA to AAA in 2015), 12.2 BB%, elite speed.
  2. Not bad, though I'd try and offer Dickey/Revere/+ for Ross and see if AJ bites (knowing him, it's possible). I'd also use a combination of Osuna and Hendriks in the 5th spot to maximize their innings limits with one beginning in the rotation and ending in the bullpen and vice versa for the other. I would keep Sanchez in AAA with one of Shapiro's development trainers to try, as they may, to convert Sanchez into a strikeout pitcher with a larger arsenal.
  3. When? In 2014? Most of his strikeouts come from perfecting his slider and curve anyway. Nvm: found it. It was 2013, which was still a poor peripheral year (5.79 K/9 that year and a 4.33 xFIP). http://i.snag.gy/ZussS.jpg
  4. I think Osuna is definitely in the starting rotation next year, especially with Shapiro's philosophy, and if Hendriks comes into camp with the same fastball, he probably gets a shot as well. Shapiro will want to see if their K/9 and low FIP's play as starters and I'm just as intrigued.
  5. Not a bad idea. Does he have an opt out like Francona?
  6. But that's exactly what he was before his call-up, not exactly a small sample size (170 innings is a full MLB season). Even Carrasco had poor peripherals and only 6 K/9 up until 2014. It was obviously a philosophical change to his developmental direction. http://i.snag.gy/NJrGr.jpg
  7. I could list more. I think it's a philosophical development direction, I'm curious to see what Stro's GB rates were in the minors, as I doubt they were that bad.
  8. Not a fan of that decision. Why can't he do both? Guys like Carrasco and Kluber have good groundball rates and high K rates.
  9. Do you think he'll try and turn him back into the strikeout pitcher he was in the minors? http://i.snag.gy/M1o1z.jpg Averaging over 10 K/9 until he was called up. Sounds like he was given poor advice?
  10. The best thing is that Shapiro will know, and if Sanchez is kept, he'll have his handpicked coaches try to change him into a strikeout pitcher. They'll have their work cut out for them though.
  11. I think it's a semantics thing, you're still selling someone while they are in there peak for performance, for however long it's been happening. That said, I see what you're saying. That's fair.
  12. Yes but he was still sold at a high in hindsight. You're either sold on a high or a low, and that certainly wasn't a down year for him.
  13. Thank you, I don't know how I forgot that. JA Happ would be another.
  14. Halladay was definitely a sell-high transaction, but, upon review, you're right about Napoli, I didn't know his previous years were as good as his 2010.
  15. Fair point, well said. I didn't know Salazar was that short. That said, Stro is 5'8 so that's a difference of 4 inches plus whatever advantage is gained by that larger frame.
  16. Roy Halladay, Napoli (didn't work out obviously), Gonzalez (former Marlin), off the top of my head.
  17. It's possible, not every org is Saber friendly yet.
  18. You're ignoring that AA and his team have replenished the farm twice before this, from far worse positions, mind you. Who's to say that AA wouldn't sell high on Cola, Revere, and Sanchez and replenish some of the farm as well as give us a great 2016 draft haul to get the system right back to a top 5 system again? Greene and Alford could be here by 2017 as well.
  19. This. Emphatically yes, which is how it should be presented to Rogers. I think he grouped in drafting and development into his list of great AA moves. Off-topic, but I don't think Shapiro would draft Stroman since analytics suggest a pitcher his size won't last as a starter.
  20. Little can become "significant" in close games.
  21. I see and agree with that perspective, but the it could be argued that the increase in revenue could justify a top 5 payroll, and, thus, justify re-signing Price. That said, I would probably go after Zimmerman and Kazmir instead.
  22. And more importantly created a huge fan movement that was felt in their ticket/merch revenue and tv ratings, and will, likely, spill into 2016. That impact, not only, justifies the trade, but also re-signing Price.
  23. That would be awful. The 1st move would be Stroman to the pen.
  24. That would be the best of all situations lol.
