  1. Didn't Rosenthal say that Donaldson should be MVP based on WPA during the ALDS, yet voted for Trout anyway? What an ass hat lol
  2. I don't disagree with you, as Donaldson seemed to have "attitude issues" in Oakland, and he fit in just fine, but the issues from Fernandez could be do to his personality (like Paplebon), instead of do to his surroundings (ie. JD). That said, I'd do it because his ability is far too ridiculous to overlook based on perceived personality defects.
  3. Of course, you don't, you're a fan lol. Remember these are people with personalities and not just assets.
  4. Don't know about anyone else but Stroman, Donaldson, and Vlad Jr would be mine.
  5. I know they said they didn't want to trade any big bats, but maybe Travis and Pillar are available, that would get it done fairly, if not weighted more in favor of Cleveland, if we go by projected WAR. Then we'd just need to sign a 2B, and play Pompey in CF.
  6. Possibly, or maybe it's a mega package for Carrasco/Salazar? They were specifically named earlier in the Gardner rumour.
  7. That's his office because he's "s***"? Lol At least he has a good sense of humour.
  8. This.
  9. High IQ response there.
  10. How? They're from here. Fangraphs crowdsourcing isn't perfect but it seems to be a reasonable estimate for what those FA's will get. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-crowd-the-top-82-free-agents/ You seem to be talking out of your ass to try and dismiss pure logic, for what reason?
  11. When you hear posturing from Davidi and others about them considering to make offers to Price or Greinke who would both cost over 30M AAV, my 21.5-26.5M total for 3 pitchers doesn't seem that bad. We still have no clue what the budget actually is, but my proposals are anything but "unbelievable", slightly high maybe, but certainly not absurd.
  12. What are you talking about? There is one trade there (for Capps) which wouldn't be tough to pull off with the potential "illegal delivery" looming over him and the short history of success. The other additions would be signings and I used the estimates from fangraphs for their potential contracts. Please explain to me how any of this is absurd or unbelievable.
  13. Carter Capps - League min. (.500) Kazmir/Iwakuma/Leake - 3yrs at 14 AAV Shark - 4yrs at 16 AAV 1) Antonio Bastardo and Shawn Kelley - 2yrs at 8 AAV total 2) Tony Sipp and Mark Lowe - 2yrs at 9 AAV total FA long relief - 1-2M? Total: 21.5 - 26.5M AAV That's not that crazy and perfectly possible if LaCava actually means what he says with the whole "resources will be available". You could always choose to fill the FA long relief and Lowe/Kelley's spot internally or via Bargain bin to save 5-6M if need be. I don't think it's unreasonable.
  14. There is if you want to stretch Osuna out as a starter and attempt to fix Sanchez where the stakes aren't high. If it was possible, I would trade for Carter Capps, sign Bastaro/Sipp, Kelley/Lowe, and 1 of Kazmir/Iwakuma/Leake/Shark, then hope Hutch rebounds as the 5th guy. This would allow for Osuna and Sanchez to start in AAA until an injury/poor performance creates an opening for whomever is performing better. Opening Day: Rotation: 1) Stro 2) FA #2 3) Estrada 4) Dickey 5) Hutch BP: CL) Capps SU) Cecil 3) Hendriks 4) Kelley/Lowe 5) Bastardo/Sipp 6) FA long relief I would prefer this more than anything.
  15. I don't remember every single HR he surrendered this year but the ones I do remember were all up in the zone straight down the middle. It's fine to pitch up in the zone for a strikeout but it should be out of the zone where batters can't get on top of it, and not touching the top of the box. A low fastball on the corners would certainly mean less HRs in general, as long as they avoid hot zones. I know he would probably average 93-94 as a starter but I'm sure he could still dial it up to 96/97 when need be throughout a start. All in all, I think he'll actually be much more effective as a starter with less of a reliance on the fastball.
  16. It's all in location. He was giving up a lot of HRs because his fastballs were at the top of the zone, centre cut. If he located them down in the zone, and only went up occasionally to alter the batters viewpoint for a strikeout, that HR rate would likely decline. He has the command to locate his pitchers, so that's all that would be needed. Osuna ranged between 96-99, predominatly, in the BP so I could see him live in the 94-96 region as a starter (same with Sanchez). That's more than good enough to minmize contact on the fastball as long he locates appropriately.
  17. His mechanics can always be worked on. Not 100% sure but I believe he could generate the same type of command and velocity with a safer delivery. I would imagine Shapiro will have people check that out.
  18. Of course anything's possible, but I would imagine the Marlins would be well aware of how good Capps is and would demand more than just Cola. That said, if that's all they wanted, I would deliver him with a bow on his head and a gift basket to Loria's front door. Capps and hopefully Bastardo and Lowe could allow us to use Osuna and Sanchez as depth starters in AAA to get their innings in, and to be 1st in line for a callup if Hutch falters again/injury.
  19. It would be lol. I say just sign Bastardo and Kelley. Both average over 10 K/9 and have great FIPS, so they could combine with Cecil and Hendriks to cover innings 6-9 for us. Let Osuna and Hutch fight for 5th starter with the loser in AAA starting as depth. Sanchez can be the long-man.
  20. What do you think Votto would cost us if we ate all of the contract?
  21. I'd rather sign Bastardo, Kelley, and Seung-hwan Oh (if he posts), than trade for Chapman.
  22. Yep. I want no part of Chapman if this is what Kimbrel costs.
  23. Oh s***, could be Ross, Shields and Kimbrel.
  24. This package could give us an idea what Chapman will cost.
  25. I don't agree with that at all, I would place Osuna and Stro ahead of him, as far as "upside" goes. Osuna will need to be stretched out eventually, why not have him compete for the 5th spot with Hutch?
