  1. Thanks man! I'm now curious if they just lay it or if they bolt the turf. If it's the latter couldn't they just remove all concrete except for the corner where it is bolted? If it's not bolted, well, then I guess we have our answers lol.
  2. Does anyone know if the sq ft cost is more for installing the dirt compared to the grass (I know that the development costs would be capitalized into this)? I just had a thought. Since it seems like Shapiro doesn't find installing grass to be economically feasible, given the constraints of the stadium, what about just simply tearing out all of the concrete on the field completely and just replacing it with dirt? Then they could simply lay the turf over top of the non-infield areas. I know, aesthetically, there would be no change, but wouldn't this take care of the body wear/tear issues?
  3. ^ "Kyle Seager"... Your typo or Law's?
  4. Just leave.
  5. This is true. The biggest issue is the amount of times he does this: http://i.imgur.com/PJWYWVe.gif?1 I watched all of his starts and it seemed like the majority of his fastballs were in that location, straight down the middle and flat. Even when he was getting lucky and getting people out, like in the Houston game, he was still locating meatballs, he just got away with it at times. http://i.imgur.com/TJ5e98i.gif?1
  6. Perhaps, but that's usually due to the spin rate or velocity. I'm not sure what the spin rate on Hutch's fastball is but I doubt it's anything special, and we know his average velocity is not overpowering. There's also the fact that his fastball was generally being grooved right down the middle of the plate where most hitters can barrel up the easiest.
  7. To be fair, they dipped quite noticeably in 2015 compared to 2014, so there is definitely something that happened outside of bad luck. He went from K'ing nearly 9/9IP in a full MLB season to around league average. All the while watching his K/BB% decrease as well. http://i.snag.gy/vqGpp.jpg http://i.snag.gy/GOTVY.jpg
  8. Nice. I know this is just depth for AAA, but it would be nice to see how Floyd could do in short bursts in the BP, especially considering Cleveland was beginning to try that with him last season.
  9. I would make incentive-laden offers to Jose and Edwin, where 2 years are guaranteed at $20 AAV each, and the next 2 years depend on their production (measured by ISO/WRC/WAR/etc), where $10m AAV is the floor and $25 AAV is the ceiling. I would see if they take that, and hope for the best.
  10. Because, at the end of the day, these are people and not robots, so there should be some consideration for the psychological aspect and how it could impact the performance. There's no guarantee that changing spots in a lineup could be something that alters a hitter's approach but it is possible. Gibbons, for what he's worth, seems to believe that Tulo, for example, was not comfortable mentally in the leadoff spot and that could be a partial explanation for the lower OBP last season. It's silly to completely rule out the qualitative aspects affecting a player.
  11. Oh yeah, especially last season. He OBP'd close to .400 across AA and AAA with a BB% of 12. That would be excellent for a lead-off hitter, if he was able to translate some of that to the Majors. I'd say start him in the 9th spot and if his OBP, BB%, etc are pretty good after April, then put him in the leadoff spot. That said, if Travis is back by then, he could easily slide into that spot as well. I would just use Martin until then, if Tulo really does have a psychological "comfort" issue with batting leadoff (as weird as that would be).
  12. I couldn't agree more. If I had it my way, he'd be in AAA this year starting for the 1st 3-4 months before getting re-called to join our bullpen for the stretch run. Now that we have Storen, I don't see the harm in trying that?
  13. He sounds like Revere 2.0 with better defense from some of the scouting reports I've read, so why not? http://i.imgur.com/7KU7Fqx.png
  14. I'm really pulling for him. I would love it if that happened!
  15. So we signed this guy today? Anyone got any other information on him?
  16. It's cause of the monster nose and pineapple hair style right? He looks better here, imo http://image.cdnllnwnl.xosnetwork.com/pics32/400/HI/HIYEPBVXIERQAWH.20120124181633.jpg Hell, if he's going to colour his hair, might as well do blue streaks instead since it fits more, being Team Colours, rather than that awful blonde.
  17. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/significant-weight-gain-wont-affect-sanchez-mechanics/?row=0&row_id=1617493 Sanchez confirms that he put on the 25lbs just this off-season, not over a longer period.
  18. That's certainly the more logical way of looking at it. That said, the slight could piss him off, and "could" decrease the chances of negotiating a team friendly extension, but perhaps they only intend to ride out his 3-yr deal.
  19. I always thought that was a different budget? If it isn't, though, I doubt these office staff signings would be all that significant.
  20. I know, I know, this is the obvious logic lol. Thanks for the re-assurance, as it's still a partial every time I click this thread .
  21. I agree overall. That said, I think the Chavez trade was another example of the Jays placing value on intangibles. Everyone seems to say that Chavez is both a great teammate and a second pitching coach for our young pitchers, so maybe that put the trade over in their eyes?
  22. I worry everyday I come into this thread that Shapiro signed this Ugo. I can't wait til the day he signs with someone else.
  23. Most definitely. We need one for upper minors pitching development though. Lower levels, we are ok, since we manage to get the most, velocity-wise, out of the projectable guys, but we can't seem to give them the pitchability development they need to become peripherally sound MLB pitchers, like what Cleveland keeps pumping out like pez.
  24. I never noticed before, but he kind of looks like a thinner Carlos Delgado lol.
  25. I did. Didn't he say that he felt he could be a 30HR guy in this lineup? I was surprised to hear a more conservative guy like Atkins say that. He must really value the ol' Condor.
