  1. Too bad it's not Martin. He would be my choice if we're considering that Bautista and Tulo don't want to. Martin has a high OBP, low K-rate, and average speed/base running. He seems like a perfect choice imo?
  2. I hated that deal when it happened, and especially don't like it now, but who knows what happens this season.
  3. One more thing to note, Shapiro has also said that a full season of the last 2 months of 2015's ticket sales and their payroll for 2017 will be MUCH higher. Given that the Canadian dollar is rising again and comparable with what it was in 2015 at this point, a full season of massive ticket sales again and I could see that payroll getting bumped a lot. If that happens perhaps market value deals for at least one of JB or EE and extensions for Stro and JD could get done.
  4. Pillar also implied that Kevin Kiermaier was overrated, and suggested that the GG voters use the "eye-test" instead of actual defensive metrics, because he "clearly deserved that win, and there was no better CF than him". He's as arrogant and deluded as they come.
  5. Nice Stro article. https://www.numberfire.com/mlb/news/8046/is-marcus-stroman-baseball-s-next-big-thing
  6. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Remember the David Price situation?
  7. Chris Sale. Also, who's dumb idea was it to call that arm motion the "inverted W", why not the "M" lol?
  8. And Shapiro had built up so much good will this spring.. Those sharks in the media will pray on this. Disappointing, really. That said, I would have probably offered Eddy at least 3 years, given his age and hitting approach.
  9. Meh, it's not like it will last long after the OBP doesn't "magically" shoot up like some expect lol. Let's just hope DT comes back soon.
  10. Even if you look at the entire year as a whole, Happ was 28th best in both leagues as a starter with 3.2 WAR, better than guys like King Felix, Salazar, Zimmerman, and many more.
  11. Why would Happ be competing for the 5th spot lol? Did you see him in Pittsburgh? The guy has a decent shot at being our #2/#3 this year.
  12. Well, Shapiro/Atkins have also brought in plenty of new additions to the player development side, and, if they represent anything similar to their philosophies in Cleveland, it's possible that Sanchez won't be taught to "pitch to contact" anymore. There's no way to know for sure, if it would even work with Sanchez, but there's at least some merit to the attempt.
  13. I'm not watching, so would anyone be willing to tell me what Sanchez got his swinging strike on that inning?
  14. Well, hopefully that means Shapiro sends Sanchez down to AAA with the instructions to develop his secondary pitches, and obtain a strikeout pitch, before he's called up again.
  15. He almost always looks bad at the plate. Home-run or go home.
  16. Highhard2 = High85 Case closed.
  17. EE, Cola, and Travis still need to be added to the line-up to make it complete. I can only imagine how hard opposing pitchers must work to stifle their urine from trickling down their legs.
  18. And Edwin's younger as well. He could, realistically, attempt to hold out for a 6-7 year deal based on his age, but he's fine with a 4 year deal if he'll get to stay with Toronto.
  19. Burn it, burn it now.
  20. Travis, please get healthy and come back soon.
  21. If it were up to me, I would use him as a multi-inning guy in hopes to stretch him from 76 IP, last season, to 110 IP this year. Doing this could bridge the innings jump a bit, and potentially allow a jump to 150 IP in 2017 without blowing his shoulder.
  22. http://rs798.pbsrc.com/albums/yy262/baryogenesis/Simpsons/1281977630127.gif?w=480&h=480&fit=clip
  23. http://i.imgur.com/8negWKo.png I think Osuna's pitchability and pitch selection profiles very well as a starter, and I hope Shatkins looks at it the same way as us.
  24. I know it's Barry Davis quoting Osuna, but he says at the end of the video that "long-term, Osuna does want to be a starter". So, if this is to be believed, there we have it. Hopefully this means he'll be a multi-inning reliever this season to try stretch him out for 2017. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/high-pressure-situations-fueling-osunas-confidence/
