  1. Updated with Part 2 in the OP.
  2. What a fantastic report. Thanks so much spats! The fact that he got his swinging strikes on the change and curve makes me very happy and excited. That's great man, damn, I haven't even begun my career, and I can't wait to be retired lol.
  3. He's probably the most likable and informative reporter they have. My favourite Toronto baseball journalists are probably Brunt and Steve Phillips of Sportscentre.
  4. I never realized how good he actually was until I looked at his numbers. Damn, he would be a great signing, and he may fall under the radar because of "ERA".
  5. I didn't really see a suitable thread to put this in, but it was a fun read and pretty interesting. Here is Part 1 of his Interview (will update with Part 2 when it is available) Thoughts? Update:
  6. While striking people out, so it's not like his last couple starts in 2015, where he was only throwing the 2SMr right down the middle and letting his movement keep it away from the heart of the plate to try induce soft contact. This spring, he's actually showing control of 4 pitches (4SM, 2SM, CV, CH) and he's still working on that Cutter as well.
  7. That's awesome man, thanks for those notes. You must have had a splendid time! By any chance, do you remember if Sanchez got any swinging strikeouts/strikes, and how the movement/command/effectiveness of his off-speed pitches (curve and change) looked? And do you remember if he threw any effective cutters?
  8. Cashner's decent and has good potential. He just needs to be removed from an environment that encourages "pitching to contact" which SD does. Fangraphs wrote an article on him and his SwStr% is so low because he focuses on his 2-SM to get "quick outs" like AA had Sanchez doing the past couple years. Now Sanchez is using his 4-SM a lot more and getting swinging strikes on it. I think Cashner under Shatkins could actually reach his potential. Keep in mind that he averaged 10+ K/9 throughout his MiLB career, just there is more ceiling for him, imo. That said, Colon or Anderson would be decent. I'm just hoping Greene is ready by then, and Hutch turns things around.
  9. Thanks for that report. Were any Yankee regulars playing? I love how Sanch continues to pile up the K's while keeping that BB rate low. I think his new line is now: 26 IP, 25 K, 3 BB, and 3 runs. That's mighty impressive, spring training or not.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tyson Ross a free agent after this season? He seems like he would be a good pick-up. Hell, Cashner would be a decent pick-up as well.
  11. Sure, but that would be a little more difficult to measure since the Jays air on a Rogers owned network where tv rights contracts are controlled in-house, likely at cost, instead of fair market value.
  12. You could do both. There's likely a correlation between higher MLB team payroll and higher international signing/draft budgets, as well as an increased development budget. They also could trade some of the expensive players a few years into their contracts if they are comfortable with their AAA depth.
  13. Well said. Last time I checked, the Cdn dollar parity was actually closing in on the US, so if this pace continues it could actually be much better than this time, in 2015. If that happens and we have an entire season of the last couple months of ticket sales in 2015, then I would imagine payroll could go up as high as $180M.
  14. I wouldn't really say that's a lock.
  15. He reminds me of Louis CK
  16. Yuk.. I want no part of that.
  17. Is he actually any good and or projectable?
  18. LOL uhhh what? Biagini http://i.snag.gy/KKG0t.jpg Stroman http://i.snag.gy/3bu46.jpg The scary thing is, I could actually see real Wilner believing that.
  19. So Gibby went full retard, just after Atkins went to bat for him, as an intelligent manager who loves "information", in yesterday's interview. I can understand the Osuna decision as a human element call, but I have nothing on the Carerra, Tepera, decisions. If you want to take someone north, while taking advantage of Ceciliani's options, why not bring Lake (who's much better than Carerra in every way and has plenty of untapped potential). The Tepera decision, however, is just completely mindless. He wasn't even good against lefties last year lol. http://i.snag.gy/6WrgR.jpg Venditte was the obvious choice with Choate gone and Girodo demoted.
  20. Great Atkins interview with Richard Griffin. The comments on Gibby embracing analytics is very encouraging.
  21. Thanks. I wonder if they'll try him out as a reliever or a starter?
  22. Did Pierre have a 70-80 arm as a player? I'm interested to see what he translates to on the mound.
