  1. Remember when Ji Man Choi suddenly decided to try that against us a few years ago? Struck out in his first at bat and then hit a first pitch rocket into the seats in his second at bat. I think he did it for like 10 at bats and then never did it again.
  2. When you look at the lineups we throw out there against lefties it really does make me think we can use another platoon right handed hitter because even if we get healthy, Varsho and Gimenez are left-handed hitters. Between them and Barger that's too many left-handers in the lineup and none of them hit lefties well. And we can really use Clement breaking out of his current slump. And if Vlad can actually be a superstar slugger that would be nice, it's asking a lot I know.
  3. Yes there was some good that came out of it, and now we have more options which is good, but we need those power options as well. It's good to be multidimensional but we're missing some of that dimension. Especially in the postseason, it's hard to string together base runners, you need the ability to quick strike. Varsho is Myles Straw with power. Santander's ability to switch hit with power also helps offset opposition pitching strategies. We're better off with these guys than without them.
  4. Our offense has been pretty mediocre in the first couple of games. Three throwing errors have contributed to half of our runs. Granted they haven't done much either, but they got the big bombs.
  5. Power in general is something we need more of. Yankees got quick strikes the whole game with it. It would be nice if Vladdy could be that guy but he's not. Varsho will help Santander's injury really hurt us
  6. Bah. Oh well. Tough one tomorrow. At least Boston lost.
  7. The pitching plan has really worked out quite well. Got to reward your manager with a win.
  8. Dude was throwing strikes tonight. He came through big time. Good for him!
  9. Straw getting a hit off Weaver might have been the most shocking hit of the year if it happened. I was hoping he would hit a slow ground ball to Volpe. Just to watch The terror on Volpe's face.
  10. Damn, Vladdy's bad luck is back. Thankfully his teammates came through, back in this thing.
  11. If the Blue Jays ever came back to win this, they might actually kill poor Volpe in New York.
  12. Clement's been hitting way too many balls in the air. Dude's got to be a line drive hitter.
  13. Yeah that was encouraging. I really liked him earlier in the season. He's an interesting change of pace from Little coming out of the bullpen from the left side.
  14. Interesting to see if Fluharty can be his old self. We could really use him.
  15. Hey look, good luck for Vladdy for a change. After watching another fastball down the middle.
  16. To burn it maybe. Or at least try to use it in some ritualistic cleansing of the spirits that inhibit him.
  17. Did you just say we're not supposed to criticize an athlete based on the money they're paid? In what universe does that make sense what you just said? What the f*** are they paid for? Aren't you supposed to pay them commensurate with their production? So if they don't produce they get rightly criticized. This isn't difficult.
  18. You get evaluated relative to your expectations. If Nathan Lukes was having his season, we'd be over the moon. But he gets the superstar treatment so he's going to be evaluated as such. What's the problem?
  19. Somebody quick give me an advanced statistic that tells me that was just bad luck for Vlad.
  20. I didn't say I expected Manoah to do that, I actually do not expect him to do that, I'm saying you hope and pray that he can. Because realistically he's got the best chance of any of our pitchers to be that guy. We have ample evidence over the past two seasons that no one else can be. As far as Guerrero, the second half started a long time ago, I'm really sick of hearing about his bad luck or good luck whatever f***ing luck he seems to always be battling. I don't think they're going to acquire a big bat, that would actually be down on my list of priorities. Realistically our best chance might be to get high-end bullpen arms and again, hope Manoah comes back as something closer to what he was in 2022. That probably gives us our best chance if they can't trade for an ace which is looking like it's going to be very difficult to do.
  21. If the plan is for Max Scherzer, the 40 year old with a wonky thumb, to be your big arm and Vladdy to be your big bat then that's a really bad plan. 15 million "large" doesn't buy you an ace these days, it buys you rotation depth. Suarez in the middle of a lineup with Judge, Stanton and Bellinger is terrifying. You're f***ing insane if you think otherwise.
