  1. If booze were to suddenly disappear from planet Earth, it might take me years to actually notice if not for this sheer panic and outrage that would ensue.
  2. While it's always fun to win, is there anybody here that sees any value in winning at this point? Surely we are all in on the highest possible pick? Or are there still some holdouts? It'll be tough to fall into the bottom 2 (excluding the White Sox and Oakland of course), but the Angels are catchable if we start trading some players. It's still way too easy to slip out the bottom 10.
  3. Totally awesome! Glad to hear you all had that experience together. Indeed this is why many of feel a romanticism with the game of baseball.
  4. Play for the draft pick boys. Play for the draft pick.
  5. Just finished watching Canada at Copa, nice to see we're at least in this game
  6. The only point I'm making is he's not a guy you look at and think wow there's a championship piece, but that's not to say that he can't find himself starting on a championship team. The bottom line is the dude has not proven to be a good hitter at all, he can play great defense, is a smart base runner even if he's not going to get you a lot of stolen bases. I just think most teams would prefer something more as a starter even though it's impossible to fill your team with ace players. If he's starting on a championship caliber team I think many teams would identify him as a player to potentially upgrade in the offseason unless the rest of their lineup is really good, I'll put it that way. But hey, if demand and supply makes it so that he has some good value, I'm more than happy for someone to overpay for his services.
  7. Thanks for the info, although in real life I colloquially say "hey man" to everybody as a general greeting anyhow, even if they're not a man, but it's good to be in the know.
  8. No it makes perfect sense, no contending team would want to roll out Varsho as a starter, but obviously even contenders usually have achilles heels. So it's possible some would be forced to, they can survive it if they are good enough in other areas, but they wouldn't want to have to start him. Like Ryan Goins for the 2015 Jays. Teams don't value defense as much as offense no matter the metrics, but if they don't have an offensive force and they're good enough offensively in other areas, they can carry the defensive guy. So ideally he's a fourth outfielder on a contender, but he could sneak his way into the starting lineup on some contenders if that's where they're weak.
  9. Indeed, some contenders need to fix the OF situation and they better get going on that. He wouldn't play over Kelenic btw. He'd be a late game defensive sub.
  10. Varsho is a defensive specialist with occasional power. Very good bench depth for a contending team.
  11. Hey man don't kill yourself off like that! I look forward to the day we win a championship with you alive and well to celebrate. Maybe when they fire Shatkins, it'll rejuvenate you like the Lazarus pit. Your grandson is at the age where memories like this will stick with him. Good stuff!
  12. If I had a son I would call him He-Man. Just so there's never any confusion.
  13. I despise Keith Hernandez!!
  14. Not for the Astros.
  15. Well that was...not unexpected.
  16. I celebrate anyone who's willing to die for me. I don't mind celebrating emergency services as well.
  17. You might actually end up being spot on.
  18. I tend to agree that violence is always a good deterrent, but in many of those plays they're not really in a position to throw it into the guy's teeth, it's a bang-bang situation. Maybe you stick the point of your elbow out to defend yourself, that might smash enough teeth to work.
  19. Canada Day hat without a drop of red.
  20. Mediocre pitcher on a lousy team trash talking a contender, down 7-1. Having said that, a brawl with the Yankees would be some of the most fun we've had this season.
  21. Don't get mad at me dude I'm here, forcing my eyes to bleed watching this s***.
  22. These GDTs will be down to one page soon.
  23. They have no prospects. You have to get rid of anyone on the roster that has value and get back some prospects. The entire coaching staff needs to f*** off as well. So does the front office and scouting department and any other nerd that is responsible for our failed development. That's about as scorched earth as it gets. I don't know how our situation gets fixed any other way. Money isn't going to fix this.
  24. Defensive specialist.
