  1. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45166166/ex-mlb-star-rafael-furcal-faces-felony-charges-south-florida Former major league shortstop Rafael Furcal is facing felony charges in South Florida, authorities said. The former All-Star turned himself in at the Broward County jail Wednesday and was released on bail a short time later, according to court records. He's charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a missile into a public or private dwelling or vehicle. Furcal threw missiles across the diamond throughout his career. He's certified to throw missiles....maybe just not actual ones? I know it's Florida, but where does one get a missile? Very bizarre.
  2. Rose admitted to betting on baseball and admitting to dating a 16 year old when he was in his mid 30's, married with 2 kids. While f*cking a 16 year old wasn't illegal at the time in Ohio - the point remains that he's a massive loser.
  3. Condolences my friend. The birds will show up today for your pops - I just know they will.
  4. Verlander frustrated after MLB shrunk strike zone: 'Lack of communication' https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3286336 I hadn't heard of this. On one hand, it's an effort to help umpires call the strike zone more accurately, which I think we all want. On the other hand, Verlander is correct that a smaller zone promotes the "set up down the middle and throw 100" mindset. Hitting is already incredibly hard these days because everyone throws so hard.
  5. I think it would be hilarious and fitting if after being removed from the ineligible list, Rose still wasn't voted into the HOF. Actually - if that were to happen, I wish he was alive to see it.
  6. Dodgers call up Dalton Rushing
  7. Interesting - I'd only ever heard their claims he only bet on his team to win with some nonsensical suggesting that should be OK. What you're saying wouldn't surprise me at all. He always came off as a lying scumbag.
  8. Sorry - I skim read your post and took an unnecessary turn because this point (not the point you were correctly making) drives me nuts. My point was I've heard people argue he shouldn't have been banned because he only bet on his own team to win. That is 100% short sighted and dumb.
  9. So you're saying he'll never soar. Got it 😉
  10. It's always been completely irrelevant whether Rose bet on his own team to win...The only way I see that argument working is if he bet on his team to win every single game, which he didn't. I'm glad the HOF kept him out until he died.
  11. I don't get the point of letting Rose and Jackson in now. I'd have stuck to my guns and kept them out personally.
  12. The mustache says Hulk Hogan, but otherwise, he looks like he's in the Land of the Dead from the movie Coco...

New pitch alert. I love this kinda stuff... Seelinger has been pretty darn good in the minors the past 2 years and might get his shot soon.
  14. We're witnessing an all-time great people. Simply incredible. It's insane to think he didn't play a full season until he was 25.
  15. Interesting observation. I've been to several games since the reno's and thought the atmosphere was really good. I've only been to 1 game this year and I was in a box, so my experience was different obviously. There were 26K people in attendance and the Jays played great with a couple late inning runs to seal the victory. I thought the place had a good vibe. Overall, I think reno's to create "general" areas for people to hangout and be social are positive. Yes, most of the people in those areas aren't watching the game, but having them in the building alone helps. Personally, I'm often frustrated at games when I'm sitting around people who aren't engaged in the game - loud, obnoxious, drunk, constantly leaving their seats. I'm all for giving them a place to go and hang out with others who want to experience the game in that manner. And of course I've been "part of that crowd" at games myself (especially when travelling to other ball parks where I have no rooting interest). I don't want to be cramped up in seats surrounded by kids/families myself. The reality is stadiums really only need a certain number of seats for people who are really interested in watching the game. After that, it's wasted space and you're better off diversifying the experience to draw in more casual fans or just people looking for somewhere to hang out before a night on the town. I don't love seeing the super expensive seats full of rich snobs who miss half the game because of "business" and other BS either - but it's reality unfortunately. Almost everyone in baseball is following the same pattern - likely because it gives you the best returns. As long as Rogers is making top dollar and re-investing it into our payroll - I'm cool with it.
  16. Don't forget this. Bring your sunglasses!
  17. Jordan Lawler gets the call up to Arizona. Can't wait to see what this kid becomes.
  18. Glad you're seeing the light my friend. I don't expect we see Ricky T on very many Top 100 lists this year. One list doesn't reflect the "industry".
  19. Because we blew a couple of games and if you can't blame someone for that - what's the point of living?
  20. Yeah - he's Schwarber lite and yes, unless Bo turns the corner and starts hitting for power, we are short on star power. We may still be short even if Bo rebounds. Kirk and Gimenez are more valuable than they get credit for, but we need more offensively from both.
  21. Santander is a star in the way Kyle Schwarber is. And if you believe connorp's view that offense is worth more than defense, especially in the playoffs than Santander is clearly a star (and yes it's subjective what a star is).
  22. Might save the sanity of these poor writers if you could provide all the revenue for the site Term...
  23. I think the issue is he knows every win matters. Margin of error for this team is razer thin. So far, he's riding his best and is willing to live and die with his best on the board. Before the recent hiccups, those guys had been nails. Then they were overused. I fully expect he'll try and walk that tight rope balancing act of pushing your best guys and overusing them. It's not like he has several other reliable options (although Little and Fluharty have both really stepped up). God knows if he was being too conservative with his pen use - trying to save guys and that was costing us games - fans would be livid... Unfortunately, it's a tough spot. That said, I LOVED Gibby and thought he managed the pen really well. Always room for improvement, but he's in a tough spot IMO.
