  1. There's a real argument that to maximize value - you let Floyd start and use up whatever bullets he has left. Sanchez builds on the spring success in AAA (as most of his success this spring has been vs. minor leaguers) and comes up when Floyd's arm falls off. If you waste Floyd's bullets in the 6th inning and/or if he's unable to be stretched out later on - you're losing an asset you'll need this year (ie, starting pitching....need 8-10).
  2. Or that pitiful Astros lineup that Sanchez faced in his previous start.......like honestly, even the dinosaurs who don't like the sabr discussion about Sanchez can't ignore the fact he's pitched against pure and utter garbage the past two starts and thus the results need to be taken with a grain of salt....right? Or are the rose coloured glasses too thick?
  3. Based on which games started last year? It's well documented he wasn't throwing as hard (on purpose) in his early starts (because Pete thought it would help his command). When that failed miserably, he started throwing harder as a starter. Also - how many inning has he thrown per start this spring? I know it was 6 the other day, less in all previous starts. It's easier to throw hard when you know you're only going 3-5 innings and X number of pitches. When it's the regular season and you want to go 7-8 every time out it's a different story man.
  4. I'm picturing Gus (without Mickey there to help) talking with Jeff Blair and the conversation is pure nonsense.
  5. I still don't f***ing get this. "Best stuff". I consider "stuff" to be a reflection of all the pitches a pitcher throws. I think people are misusing the word stuff when they mean his fastball looks electric this spring. He has an average curve (which makes no sense to throw off his 2 seamer) and nothing else. Of interest, I actually looked up the definition of "stuff" and this article came up. http://deadspin.com/here-is-what-stuff-means-in-baseball-1734592813 Funny to see Jake Arrieta under the "great stuff, not crafty" category, wearing an Orioles cap...
  6. Can you guys tell me more about the dinosaurs?
  7. I'd save your time man...seriously.
  8. I'm juvenile, so I looked for this basic instinct moment that was discussed previously. It's pretty weak (45 second mark)
  9. perhaps - but it still gives me the tingles. Bring it home this year boys.
  10. I can picture Goose swearing at this 4 year old. He's that stupid.
  11. And Jose shouldn't have thrown to the wrong bag????
  12. We should crank up the heat in the dome...
  13. Except if you put Floyd in the pen......given all his injuries lately, you may use up his bullets or be unable to stretch him out as a starter (can we even send him to AAA to be stretched out? I guess if he agrees to it). Thus if you don't go with Floyd from the get-go, you may only have 7 starters...when on average, teams use 8-10 each year. That might be a bad idea.
  14. You mean that loud obnoxious heckler doesn't qualify as atmosphere?
  15. So forgotten that I've never even heard of him. I also like how G-Snarls asked the question....then answered it himself...
  16. This - there's no 6 man rotation to start the year
  17. That's my take. I'm shocked so many of you are against having ample SP'ing depth when failure of our starting pitchers is the most likely thing to derail the 2016 Blue Jays. That said - I agree they may have mis-read the market a bit. They got Chavez before re-signing Estrada or signing Happ. If either of those guys don't sign here and we pass up Chavez, we're looking at Sanchez/Floyd as our 4/5 with Hutch as our #6 and nothing behind him. That would be a terrible position to be in.
  18. yep - this is your fault. I couldn't comment on how Boxy must slay rockstars (after you locked that thread) so I hijacked this one.
  19. She's bad at running blooper clips? Is that even a skill?
  20. this is an excellent post. much better than mine.
  21. Let your juvenile side live a little man. I don't know about you, but I still enjoy checking out boobs/cleavage on a daily basis. Or when a t-bar slips out the back of the pants? awesome. I suspect all of us still love that stuff - even though we can just go home and fap to porn. Personally - I just do both
  22. Boxy - I'm more interested in the ladies you're slaying.....Jackie Redmond isn't hot? must be nice to be you!!!! I mean she's not supermodel material, but I'm not going to pretend like I'd push her out of bed...
  23. I'll take your word for it. I'm saying "most people" don't understand this because they see so many "big name" teams that spend a lot who aren't winning. Dodgers spend 25% more than the 2nd highest spending team last year and weren't really contenders to win the NL last year. Angels continue to spend a ton and never win s***. Yanks haven't won in 6 years despite often spending twice as much as the rest of the league. The Mets were a top spending team for years there, while also being hot garbage....etc., etc. The Leafs used to spend more than the rest of the league pre salary cap and we all know how that went. Personally - I never really associate big spending with winning....although I do suspect the numbers suggest that in the long run, it gives you a higher chance. The Shatkins at $100M vs. Dom at $150M is a great example. $$ helps, but isn't the be all, end all.
  24. Because there's a ton of examples where high priced teams suck balls. Philly spend more on salaries last year (9th) than the Jays did (10th) and were the worst team in baseball. The Tigers and Red Sox were both top 4 in spending and both were last place teams...
