  1. Thor should pitch to contact more - he's hasn't been able to get into the 7th inning in his past 2 starts.
  2. He's been .211 to .240 avg, .311 to . 329 OBP in 4 of the past 5 years....that's the hitter he is...not the guy you saw in Pitts in 2014.
  3. I'll take your word that a wRC+ of 86 is above average for a LHH vs. LHP...although I must say that is a little mind blowing. I guess they typically crush RHP, but that stat is one of the reasons I never got the infatuation with having LH/RH balance in a lineup....So many LHH are relegate to being a Ryan Goins type hitter late in games - even by underwhelming LOOGY's. Personally - I prefer to look at the past 2-3 years when evaluating players because, well, players make adjustments. It's like looking at Russell Martin's career average and expecting him to hit .255 this year.....not going to happen.
  4. Call this the TSN turning point in the season....Shatkins making things happen!
  5. I just sorted wRC+ for LH hitters v. LHP between 2014 & 2016 with at least 250 plate appearances. Reddick's wRC+ of 65 is 48th of 57. That isn't above average sir. Think of it this way....when Reddick faces LHP, he's as productive as Ryan Goins vs. RHP...
  6. What's your point? Are we paying those guys $15M a year? They're just JAGs that fill out our roster. I'm simply against making someone a high priced, key FA signing when their so easily neutralized late in games.
  7. He's talking about trading for him right now....hence my comment.
  8. Listen - I don't hate Reddick at all, but am I the only one who doesn't want to pay this guy $15M a year (+/-) when he's an absolute ZERO vs. LHP and thus has to be pinch hit for late in every close game? It's almost forces you to have a right handed lefty masher as your 4th OFer. wRC+ of 56 vs. LHP in 2014, wRC+ of 83 vs. LHP in 2015 and a wRC+ of 4 this year so far. There is some list calling him the least clutch player in baseball....I don't necessarily buy into clutch hitting, but I think the fact he gets LOOGY'd to death late in close games is an easy explanation why he's at the top of that list.
  9. That's nice. What happens if he doesn't want to play here? BTW - Reddick's not that strong defensively himself....you're going to stick him in the OF right now and move Jose or Saunders to DH and EE to 1st with Smoak on the bench?
  10. For a platoon player who's a FA at the end of the year? No thanks.
  11. Is this Dogg's new account? (sighs)
  12. I think Storen is getting better
  13. Huh? No it's not...or if it was they put up the wrong pie graph
  14. A few things. 1. Happy for Andy Burns 2. I thought Dan Shulman was only doing like 34 games...seems like he's way ahead of that pace. 3. It said Stroman throws 22% fastballs and 36% sliders...that's super wrong isn't it? 4. Did you guys see the dirty mustache on the Jays bat boy?
  15. Did he learn from Brian Wilson in SF?
  16. So are we still firing Jacoby?
  17. We may soon need to start the debate of whether he'll be a HOFer...
  18. C'mon man - there's an unwritten rule that fast guys lead off and your good hitters drive'em in. Buck lives his life solely by following unwritten rules because he grew up in an era when nobody questioned stupidity.
  19. I actually agree with most of this. I've been impressed with his ability to absorb some early struggles and give the team a solid outing. Walks are down, SwStr% is up. He's been as good as any pitcher on the team. It's funny how people were losing their s*** because we didn't sign a #1 and our rotation was going to be s***. Those same people are probably impressed with Happ - even though he isn't really pitching that well yet.
  20. It was my wife's birthday yesterday....I just kept hitting refresh and cursing when the site was down. I'm thinking it was a missed opportunity.
  21. I get all of that man - but it's times like this I must admit I don't 100% buy into the stats suggesting Pillar's been more valuable than Harper to date. O's must be so happy they didn't get Fowler. 2 WAR already.
  22. My problem with Buck and Tabby is they make s*** up all the time. Just stick to the facts and I'm happy. Case in point, last night Beltre swung so hard on a pitch that he went to one knee (which isn't uncommon for Beltre). Buck throws out "I know there aren't any unwritten rules in baseball anymore, but back in the day if someone swung that hard, we'd say - you want to swing that hard, well here you go". 1. I'm fairly sure there's never been an unwritten rule restricting how hard someone swung. 2. I have no f'ing idea what Buck's even suggesting. Is he saying back in the say they would have brush him back or thrown at a batter if he swung that hard? He throws out this utter nonsense 2-3 times a night. That's my issue with him. I honestly don't remember the last game I watched where I didn't shake my head in disgust - and I typically miss half the game.
  23. Huh? I'm talking about how Pillar's been more valuable than Harper to date this year...
  24. That's the type of quote that makes "old school" people question sabermetrics even more...Christ it makes me question it to some extent.
  25. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/aaron-nola-has-baseballs-best-curveball/ Apparently Sanchez has the 5th best curveball in baseball. I never thought I'd write that.
